Yeah, alts are pretty expensive...and I can't tell you how many tools got thrown in the process of trying to change my alt. Working on C-17's or C-5's is an easier task than changing my **** alt, LOL. There was a nut that was stuck on, so it took forever...**** rust.
Working enroute, get to play crew chief and comm/nav. C-5's are the biggest BIGGEST BIGGEST piece of crap out there. They're actually refitting it with a ton of new technology, but it's still a big fat flying turd. It's just polished. Even though its mission capable rate is still below 60%, what a waste of money.
C-17 is indeed sexy especially the cockpit. I remember crew chiefs constantly changing tires on the C-5. So you're originally a pointy head. Once upon a time I was a crew chimp on kc-135.
when you get around to the 3000+rms point then a upgraded alt is probably a good idea. a stock alt will still be able to charge the stock battery+xtra battery with no problem
