New to car install, some advice?

Hey guys I'm installing an Infinity Reference sub in an 02 civic and I need a little advice. First off I need some help with amp and sub mounting in the trunk. I thought it would be as simple as bolting the box to the floor of the trunk and the amp to the side frame but it turns out my entire trunk floor is the cavity where the spare tire goes so I don't have enough space to mount the sub flush to the floor. Also, I would appreciate advice on locations I could possibly mount the amp. The sidewall might still be an option. Any advice?

Second, are there any resources I can go to to help in ripping apart my dash? I found an OEM grommet in the firewall I can route the amp's power cable through but I'm almost certain it comes out behind the center console. I'll also need to get behind the dash to route the RCA cables back to the amp.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Well, If your having troubles keeping the box in 1 spot. Alot of people Make a "false floor " Whitch means. They cut a piece of MDF board the size of the floor of your trunk and mount it their,

Or what i did was measure the distance from the box the the front of the trunk, Then cut a piece Of wood the width If the box and put it in front of the box so it doesn't Slide.

Is it not necessary to secure the box to the floor? Other than the obvious security benefits I thought it would improve SQ or something. If I can just secure the box to the back of the trunk or something so it doesn't move that simplifies things greatly.

Just make the box big enough so it takes up your entire trunk and has nowhere to slide //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Always worked for me, lol

secure it good...you dont want it sliding around and hitting things. What if your in an accident?
Yeah that's a really good point actually. It's a pretty small single 12 box. You think two strong bolts to the frame in the front (it's gonna be forward firing) should do it? I think there's enough level sheet metal towards the back of the trunk to bolt onto.

And while I got your attention, is ripping apart the dash kinda trial and error and hope you don't **** up too much or is there somewhere I can find some sort of rough guide? I'd hate to take it apart and not have any idea how to get it back together.

WELL its a prefab for now but it fits perfectly lol...their is maybe half an inch of space on both sides of the box.

Bolting the box isnt really needed...unless you drive like a **** maniac with a single 10" sub...dual 12" subs and MAYBE 10s are heavy enough to where dont worry to worry about them sliding too much...but then again if you drive like a maniac and takes turns fast then they still might lol. Me personally I cant take turns too fast simply because car cant handle tight turns going more than maybe 10-15 mph...due to the size of the car and the fact my front end is a little out of alignment.

The amp...no suggestions about it...i simply bolted it to the top of my box. If someone can get 80-90 lbs out of my car and unhook all of the wires on the amp and sub without getting caught...then they deserve to take it lmao.
