Big 3 finally accomplished today

I could probably sit in my engine bay (I'm 5'11" and 210lbs) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
I can stand between the bumper and the radiator without a problem. If the hoses weren't where they're all supposed to be, I'd also be able to stand between the engine and the radiator. I wouldn't try it though the way it is because I wouldn't want to mess up my oil cooling lines, ***** cooling lines (definitely fun to change), or radiator hoses that take up that space.

so you said after the big 3 you still get dimming with 1100 watts? I think even with your low output alt it shouldnt dim. I dont think it should. asfar as the fuse inbetween the alt+ and the batt + is more then protecting of short outs. god forbid that wire come lose from the batt end or the alt end, you have a live wire swinging around with a lot of ground spots that it can hit and then short out with no fuse to stop it. it can burn your alt, or make your batt explode. I would fuse it, I did on mine. better safe then sorry. feel me?.. looks good and clean though. I have an 06 altima and its a PITA to fit your arm anywhere in the engine bay..lol

Yeah, I'm not sure why it's dimming, I'm thinking about taking a piece of 4 gauge and running it to the main fuse box where one of the battery wires goes to see if that helps get a little more current to there. I've got headlight fuses in there and a bunch of other high powered stuff so I'll have to see if that helps. It'll end up being a big 4 I guess. As far as the fuse goes, I definitely understand why I would need it. The only place for the wire to come off would be at the battery. There's no way it would come off the alternator end. If it did come off the battery, It would more than likely just stay where it's at. I've got it all zip tied together now so I'm not too worried about it. Plus, I usually do a check on everything before I take the car out. It's not my daily driver. Now I'll just have to add in the big 3 wiring to check too. I'm more worried about my 1/0 fuse holder for my power run. It's a Knu holder, but it seems somewhat easy for the wiring to come out of it. It did come out once when I was wiring it all up. I haven't had any problems with it since then, but it's something that worries me. I believe it came out because when I was running the wire I was twisting it to get it around a bend and it twisted out. When I got it back in there I gave it a good pull and it stayed.

SO where did u run the 1/0 is there an existing hole or did u drill? Working on my boy 94 caprice his did dash in white today
There's a little rubber plug on the driver's side of the car, behind the wheel well. It's shaped kind of like an oval. Pull the plug out and you'll have to cut a little bit of the insulation that's in there. You'll have to take the kick panel/trim out to get to the other side of the hole. It's not easy to get a run of 1/0 back to the trunk, but it's doable. It's easier to push it through the engine bay into the car instead of from the car into the engine bay.

how about them battery terminals mane? Did you run across any problems with them? I did tonight when I tried to install mines. I will start a separate thread on my issues and just congratulate you on your install here.

You can cover the red wire with some of that black ribbed wire protection tubing and most of your Big 3 will probably blend right in. I did that not only to blend in the wiring, but also to protect it...it can be a little unforgiving to wire in the engine comparment. Looks good though, nice job!

Yeah, saw your thread...I have the same terminals...they do the job but the folks at Knu need to go back to the drawing board on those things. Crappy design.

Looks good but in the third pic, it looks like the black wire is crimping a hose about 1 foot from the - terminal. Its probably just the way the picture was taken tho.
There's nothing crimped. It's probably just the angle.

The terminals weren't the best to set up. Just make sure you tighten the shit out of them. And, thanks.

Yeah, I'm planning on getting some loom for the wire. I take the car out maybe once a week so I'm not too worried about it wearing out, but it would be nice for it to blend in a little better.

do you have a pic of where you ran the wire into the car??? i am woking on a caprice right now just painted dash yeaterday
Unfortunately no. I'm not at home today and I don't have any pics on my iPod I could upload. There's a small rubber plug, kinda the shape of an oval or maybe more like a racetrack, behind the drivers side wheel well on the firewall. It's kinda far down. You'll have to remove the bars that are in the corner to be able to get your hands down there for the 1/0. It'll seem impossible to be able to get the 1/0 through, be patient with it. You'll get the right angle eventually and it'll slip right in, kinda popping a cherry...lol.
