I think it could have played a role in it especially with those kind watts pushing it to over exert (spiders ripping) could be many many reason why the subs did that. I cant judge because he didnt list all the facts of the matter such as how long of a period the music was played, what kind of music, box design.......But I know he pushed them to their limits on PURPOSE, like mentioned before he would of smelled something before the coils went and could of stopped it, BTW alum coils can handle more power than copper. Also could of been from the ripped spider causing the coil to rub or shift. Either way its the end users fault.
Honestly any subwoofer out there could do the same thing with that power daily.
