Better sub than IDQ 12" for $160 shipped?

If when you say smoke, if you mean in output, I agree. But like I said, IDQ's are not SQL drivers like a Matrix Elite is. The IDQ has its advantages over a sub like the Matrix Elite also.
I think that depends what you mean by advantages... if you are talking about your personal preference in the sound of the IDQ over the Elite, I can see that as plausable. But if you are talking about pure sound quality, the Elite will have less distortion across its entire range compared to the IDQ.

SQL drivers are actually better SQ drivers than what are considered focused SQ drivers. Of course that doesn't factor in tonality and personal preference. Otherwise everyone would be running W7s for SQ.

That's just packed too full of generalities to be taken real serious.

And you could say the same for personal preference of the IDQ over the Oz, or vice versa. *shrug* But my advantages comment was based on more than just SQ, such as enclosure volume. IDQ's use extremely small enclosures.

edit: And I assume you are talking about BL distortion output comparisons between the two subs. If BL distortion plots were the end-all spec on what makes the best SQ subs, xbl^2 enabled drivers and other BL optimized subs like the W7 would be crowned the kings of SQ, as they certainly have the flattest BL curves of any subs on the market today. But, this is not the case.

What is one of the OZ Matrix Elite 12" going to cost me? What kind of power do they need? Are they like the IDMax? What kind of volume to they require, ported, vented, sealed? I guess I really don't know a whole lot about them...I've read about a lot of other subs, but not this one...

Actually, they are often compared very closely to the IDMax.

so it's a solid sub then? do you know how much they cost? how do you know so much about subs...not many people know much about ID it seems. i'd idealy like to get an IDMax, but don't want to spend that kind of money on a sub. what kind of subs do you run?

The best SQ I've personally heard out of a sub comes from the pair of Aura RPM Plus 10s I own. But for $160 shipped, I would look into an Adire Tempest 12".

who wants a sub with great sound quality if it cant be cranked up and make some impressive slamming - IMO

A sub for me has to sound good and slam...
If you play music at an average 115 dB, there's something seriously wrong with your hearing. Subs don't have to get as loud as you think, as far as dB numbers are concerned. Just my opinion, of course.

Yes

do you know how much they cost?
You used to be able to pick them up on egay for ~$140+shipping. PM Tplaya07 and find out how much one would cost through him.

ID is more popular than you might believe //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Over on http://www.elitecaraudio.com there have been many comparisons between the OZ ME and the IDMax. You just have to search a lil //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

115db is like 2 8"s with a 200wrms.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I was talking about BL distortion/distortion in general... and I commented on how it wasn't the end-all spec. I wasn't making any generalizations, its the truth when referring to the true definition of sound quality. You even repeated exactly what I said.

I'm not being biased either... I will gladly tell you that your XXX will put out less distortion than my Oz. Whether I will like its sound more I don't know. It just seemed to me that someone was trying to imply that the IDQ will have better SQ than the Oz and IMO THAT is the generalization here. If you are going to mention a clear cut advantage such as box size then say so. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

project, the Oz will work well with anywhere from 500-1000 watts. Box size should range from 1 cu ft to 1.5 cu ft sealed depending on the sound you desire.
