Better sub than IDQ 12" for $160 shipped?

The OZs are some pretty tight drivers and they hit hard. From what I hear they are pretty quick also and keep with with fast music no problem. I was considering them at one time but I decided to stay lower powered and get some 10s. I might upgrade to a single 15 later on and the OZ would definatly be one of my top choices.

I was talking about BL distortion/distortion in general... and I commented on how it wasn't the end-all spec. I wasn't making any generalizations, its the truth when referring to the true definition of sound quality. You even repeated exactly what I said.
I'm not being biased either... I will gladly tell you that your XXX will put out less distortion than my Oz. Whether I will like its sound more I don't know. It just seemed to me that someone was trying to imply that the IDQ will have better SQ than the Oz and IMO THAT is the generalization here. If you are going to mention a clear cut advantage such as box size then say so. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

project, the Oz will work well with anywhere from 500-1000 watts. Box size should range from 1 cu ft to 1.5 cu ft sealed depending on the sound you desire.
I was not dissing the Matrix. In fact I believe I was the one who originally suggested one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I was simply saying the Oz will undoubtly get louder, and if if has a flatter BL curve (Ill take your word for it on that) it will put out less BL distortion, but not every trained ear would agree to the superiority of one sub over the other based just on that. IDQ's have proven themselves in the SQ lanes for many years and imo its too general a statement to say the Oz would be better based on a BL plot. Some people will prefer one, some the other. Yes, that's personal preference speaking. But in the end, that's what this is about, personal prefernece, not hitting a plot curve on a graph. Eh... to each their own. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

As a matter of fact, Im anticipating an upcoming project for my 4x4 that will require a new sub or two, and Im debating between these two exact subs (Matrix Elite and IDQ). The Oz will give me more output and a fatter low end, the IDQ will save me space.

thank you all for the help on this! i have done more research on the Matrix Elite 12" and I really would like to get one instead of the IDQ12 if I can find a good deal on one. I have emailed back and forth with a representitive at OZ and they have been very helpful with information etc and I think are probably the nicest/most professional people I have dealt with to date! thank you for the recommendation for the OZ Matrix Elite, if you have any info on where to pick one up for a good price, let me know!

I dont know if your gonna be able to get it for 160 shipped but probably at around 200-220 shipped. I think it would be worth it though.
They've been on ebay (NIB) for less than that. Like I said above, a regular vendor use to sell the Matrix Elite 10's NIB for just over a $100. I would have bought some myself if Id have realized he was gonna stop selling them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif No way you should have to pay $200 for one these days.

edit: the NIB one on ebay I linked to on page 1 is up to $41. It wont be going anywhere near $200.

Here's a Matrix Elite 12 with a buy-it-now price of $160: http://cgi.ebay.com/OZ-AUDIO-MATRIX-ELITE-12-4-12-1400-W-SUBWOOFER-ME12-4_W0QQitemZ5813450437QQcategoryZ18803QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

115db is like 2 8"s with a 200wrms.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
110 dB is an average rock concert, 120 is a .22 rifle going off at very close range. There are threads about this subject.

But all in all I agree. 200 real watts and some nice 8s would handle 115dB like nobody's business. =)
