Best way to power 2 x 12" MTX 6000 4ohm subs

the box ends up being right about 2.25 cubic feet .. just short of the 'best' size for the MTX subs.. but still over the recommended minimum..

i think it will sound good and then once I figure out my door and dash speakers i will be all set to go.

I was reading in another board that if your running subs parellel and its a 500w amp that both subs will get 500w .. true? because that'd be double the rms recommended per sub for my MTX's ..

or does this not apply for single channel mono amps? such as the jl audio 500/1

as long as I dont crank that Im not gonna bl0w the subs.

Thanks again.. that amp is gonna be like 800-900.00 cdn .. kinda expensive but might aswell do it right the first time

gain is an input adjustment has nothing to do with power output. to mechanically destroy a speaker you would have to continueally bottom it out. causing a MAJOR clap sound over and over until the woofer falls apart. let me simplify it for you...speakers are motors. ac at that. if you "fry" it you do it with clipping not power...............clipping is a dc voltage spike or basically a messed up signal

lol its a safe guess the manufacture gives. that speaker will handle more or less power depending on the enclosure.

So why am I looking at the 500/1 instead of teh 250/1 .. which is my recommended RMS on the subs?

the subs perform 'best' when in a 1.25 cubic feet enclosure if your going sealed with 250watts

the pair of speakers will see 500 watts as far as what you were told -each sub can see 500 watts......short peaks over all (very short). cAN I ASK YOU THIS? do you think a 500 watt amp is 500 watts all the time? the 250 would be good unless you really want to bump it........ also i might add i am running a component set that is rated for 70 watts rms..funny thing they are getting 150 rms each side hmmmmmmmmmmm........also if what you are impling is true why dont spl competitors just wire series parrelle off one 3000 watt amp? hehe food for thought huh......

370 usd .. add probably 20-30usd for shipping .. then add customs since its coming to canada.. probably 100.00 cdn..

so 400 usd x 1.62 = 650ish .. then the customs.. its still right about 800 bills ya'll
