Just wondering which setup I should go with.. I would like to bridge them and if possible get a 2ohm load.. then from there power them with a 400 x1 amp * class D mono *

The subs have a recommended RMS of 250watt a piece

Im new to audio so if this makes no sense lemme know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ..

thanks for any help you can give me!

if that 400x1 is the amps RMS rating, each sub will get 200w each... a little under the subs RMS ratings. you could/should get a amp with more power in order to reach your subs potential.

But was my wiring / setup idea correct? bridging them and powering with a 1x XXX class D mono

or should I go 2 channel to get more than bass from the back..

its going in my pickup so unsure about what kind of setup..

any particular amp you recommend? I am open to any suggestion

thanks

The Class D amp is the better way to go. They are basically built for bass, and will be much easier on your electrical system. I would possibly look for an amp that will push 600 RMS to power those subs, I believe they can take a little more than their reccomended 250 RMS.

Looking at my wiring sheet for my the 2 x 12" mtx 6000 4ohm subs I just got it says if you wire the coils and speakers in parellel ( I guess this would be bridged?? ) .. they will produce a 1ohm load ..

now I would be ok with a 1 x 500-600amp @ 2ohm or do I need to get a 1ohm

I am new to audio //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thanks alot..

sorry about that I mean my mtx's running parellel will be 2ohm output.. so running the 500.1 jl audio would be 250 x2 .. recommedned RMS per sub..

so this would be the perfect setup then? yes?

2 x 12" mtx 6000 4ohm running parellel to give a 2ohm out put

jl audio 500/1 @ 2ohm will put out the 500watts.. so 250 rms per sub..

and it should not run too warm, I want to mount the amp behind rear seat in my truck since box will be under the back seats ..

again Im new and thank you all for your patience //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif this ohm stuff is so confusing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

the jl is a very good amp but costly compared to the memphis or the jbl..all 3 would get excelent results the jl might do a lil better but he has to decide if that is worth the price, as with any consumer.

but that setup would be great in theory right

mtx 12's parellel @ 2ohm

and the jlaudio putting out 500watt @ 2ohm

thanks for all the help.. anything else I should know?

hell ya! but you would get the same power from the memphis and the jbl amp but the jl amp would produce the same power in the range of 4-1 ohm where the others would change. remember speakers are reactive thus their impedences change while playing music

another amp I was looking at was the mtx 6500D ..

i notice the mtx mentions 2 different VDC power levels.. now can / will you know its set to 12.5 or 14.4 .. I know this is probably a dumb question //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

so if you were choosing an amp you'd get the jl audio then it sounds? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

thanks again

best for lowest $ goes the jbl 600.1

little better about 70 bucks more the 500d memphis

mtx would be here too (different voltages suggest non regulated power supply)

jl is regulated and is a straight 500 watt amp (stays nearly the same 10.5-14.4 v) at 1-4 ohm impedences. 12.5-14.4 reffers to "how good" your charging system/battery is in your car

the JL is definatly going to be the choice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif should make the 12's thump nicely //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I wonder how this setup will sound in a 2001 Silverado extended cab?

thanks

choose a more sq box for your subs, since you have a relitivly small cabin area it should still pound but you can get a little more "good sound" out of it with the better box. that is if you listen to music other than rap.
