Best way to configure this system?

Car: 1967 Camaro RS/SS

Head Unit: Alpine (16w RMS)

Amp: Quart Q.150 4. Channel (rated 150w RMS)

Rear deck Speakers: Hertz Hi- Energy hsk165 components. (rated at 125w RMS)

Front center dash speakers: 4 inch coaxial Fosgate (rated at 45w RMS)

Sub: In trunk. Single 10 Inch Polk db1040DVC (275w RMS) sealed box.

Wiring: 4 gauge for power and ground fused at battery.

Would appreciate advice on best way to utilize this amp with present speakers?

Option 1) Run Rear deck speakers off channel 1&2 . Bridge channel 3&4 to 10 inch sub at 2ohms. Purchase new 2 ch amp to run 4 inch Fosgate Coaxials in center dash or run them off head unit.

Option 2) Use quart Q amp above to power rear deck components and look at possibility of installing a second set of 5 in Coaxials without cutting panels on the car, and running them off the other two channels. Purchase a second Amp to Power the sub woofer. Forgetting about the 4 in in the center dash entirely?

Run your front stage off the front channels of the amp and bridge the rear channels to your sub.

That is how my car is currently setup along with many other cars that I have done and it sounds very decent like that.

or... run your front stage of channels 1 and 2... reap speakers off 3 and 4 and buy another mono channel amp to run your substage...

Thank you for some input on this. Unfortunatley the head unit is not going to be sufficient to run the Herts component set! Running the 4 inch Coaxials in the center dash seems a little over kill for this amp.

If i can figure out a way to install better front speakers i would not hesitate. This seems to be an issue due to air conditioning in the front passenger side kick panel which will not permit a 5 or 6 in speaker . the driver side kick panel has interference with the parking brake that voids that option.

The doors are not an option as i have no desire to cut these up for speakers.

The other option might be to install a set on the ***** tunnel but they are going to be firing in different directions which will not give them great imaging.

No , the motor is a 383.

He has 150w rms rear components 16w rms wouldn't do them justice

My suggestion buy a nice set of front 4" to better suit the output of the amp

then purchase a amp for the sub later

I wouldn't run 4 speakers with such different rms ratings off the same amp your either going to blow the low wattage speakers trying to make the rears happy, or grossly under-power the rears.

another thing, this confuses me you say center and speakers... if it was center wouldn't it just be one?

I am sorry but I do not understand what you are saying in your second sentance.

Anyway it takes 10 times more power to create 3db in sound increase.

Rear speakers should only be used for rear fill. Rear fill should be less loud than the front stage.

A -3db difference from the front is not a bad amount.

So running his amp to the front speakers and head unit to the rear will most likely sound the best with what he has.

I, currently, am running 100 watts RMS to my front stage (MB Quart 4.100) and head unit power to my rear stage.

I have my fader at 7/10 (70% to the front) in order to have a balanced front / Rear Stage.

The center dash speaker was originally just one speaker yes. It was replaced with 2 fosgate 4 inch coaxial speakers in the center dash.

I understand the rear speakers are overkill but as mentioned moving them to the kick panels was/ is not an option in this case. However i could just replace them with a lesser coaxial speaker and run them off the head unit as suggested. If i could devise a way to get the components in the front somehow without cutting things all would be good!

So bridging the sub off two channels and running the Components off the other two channels would not be ideal if i understand correctly? A seperate amp for the sub would be more appropriate than using two of the channels bridged on this amp.?

No that is not what was said.

Running the sub off 2 channels and running either the rear (not my first choice) or front speakers off the other 2 channels.

I guess based on your situation (having 2 small drivers in the front center area) I might try amping the rear louder speakers and running the front center off the head unit.

that is not the proper way to do it but there were lots of cars back in the day that just ran 6x9's on the rear deck. And I guess since you have such an old school car an old school setup would work out.

Thats the first post i have heard about the Quart "Q" series amps having problems. I reviewed this amp for problems in many forums and on the net and found nothing about people havinging issues! I can see someone messing up the wiring and setup but that can happen with any amp. Please send me links i would like to have a good read!The MB Fx series has had its share of problems aswell as the Discuss.

I believe i will be getting a seperate mono amp as that appears to be the simplest fix.

No link per say but ask around here. Someone on here has bought 2 seperate ones and both had major issues. I almost went with the amp but i went with the onxy 125.4 and it was decent but its was cheaply made and felt of platic so I sold and got quality. Buy u may have luck but I feel we will see u again asking wtf is wrong with my amp..
