For the money and availability the single 15" Obsidian is the way to go. PS: The Obsidian has 30% more linear stroke than the PB.

I have a Lanzar MXA284 amp i can run bridged @ 4ohms 1200W rms(though the manual says 5000W); I am assuming this would be suitable to run it until i get my rubicon. No clipping of course

my vote is for the AQ HDC3 10 or 12. 10 you will need about 2 cu feet the 12 needs about 3. You could do the 15 but its closer to 5 total. RMS is 1000 but I have 2000 to mind and it handles it no problem what soever for daily driver. And I push it to the point of clipping the amp. Amp is an AQ 2200d... 10 or 12 should get in the low to mid 140's if done right. This sub was designed with SPL in mind.

the AQs are pretty pricey, is it worth it when compared to the obsidian subwoofers?

You just described what I want to do. I can't do 2 15's ported, so I'm thinking of doing 2 of them in a sealed box. Don't know if I can fit a box for 2 sealed 15's though...

The 18's are not available (not in stock and are at least 4 months out for the next batch to be ready).

Why don't you contact one of the many enclosure builders that are vendors on this forum? DC Creations actually has four Obsidian 15's in their demo vehicle.
