Best sub (s)for $300

The new Icon is very expensive to build, especially with the new cooling, hence the Gcon. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
We don't foresee raising the price at all even though we are possibly modifying the motor on our 600 watt line a little bit for improved cooling. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif The 12's, 15's, and 18's will keep their respective $138, $158, and $189 price tags.

eh, what makes it cost twice as much as the Obsidian 15?
Having no experience with Obsidian, I can't make a comparison. I simply know many people that have owned and loved Fi products. Never heard a bad thing about Fi.

Obsidian products might be great, but since I've never heard of them until this thread, I can't exactly recommend them.

The BL and the obsidians are two very different subwoofers...the obsidian is designed to be a great all around daily sub that doesn't require a whole lot of power. The BL on the other hand is geared much more towards SPL and has higher power handling. Both great subs, just each for 2 different things. I have an obsidian 12 in a 4th order right now that's the loudest single 12 setup I've heard to date. Beats the 9512 my buddy had in terms of output and lows, and the obsidian is running off less than 800-1000w (doesn't get smelly getting 1/3 more than the rated power either)

I think ill go Obsidian. For $300, i can get 2 12s, 1 15 or 1 18; im going to try to built a box myself, which i can do everything but hz tuning

It is, obviously you need to have a design made up though. Get some plans, buy a 4" PSP aeroport from partsexpress, cut the tube to your desired feq., build the enclosure, cut the hole for port and sub and your done. You save on trunk space too since a slot port enclosure is bigger than aeros.

Two Obsidian 12s would be awesome, but I believe that comes out to over $300 with shipping. I'd get a 15" if the two 12s isn't doable.

you live 40 mins from me

Should i go with the 2 12" Obsidians, 1 15 Obsidian or 1 18 Obsidian?
For the money and availability the single 15" Obsidian is the way to go. Order a single 6" aero port from PE, make your enclosure to the air space and tuning recommendations that we recommend and call it a day. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

PS: The Obsidian has 30% more linear stroke than the PB.
