Best Sub for $100

Title is the question. My friend wants the best sub he can get for $100, preferably a 12 in. I was thinking about a type-r, any other suggestions. Also if I do go with the type-r what should I amp it with? I can get either d2 or d4 subs.

Will it be louder then a 12in type R though? Also what amp would I use with a MAW 15 and how would I wire it?

15" MAW

I see that it has a dual 4 ohm voice coil and a 500 watts RMS, so you'd be looking for an amp that puts down something like 600-700 watts RMS into a 2ohm load.

I would say a Hifonics Bxi1206 should do the trick. or check the classififieds here on this form for something similar. Might be able to pick something up pretty cheap.

Get 2 12" Hifonics HF12D4's, I bought 2 for $100 shipped off of eBay, and they had enough power to flex my windshield, and more than enough to make my trunk look like a whales tail. Just make sure if you're running them, go sealed.

Well I just found out a 12 is out of the question, as its going in a single cab s10 so I'm limited to the LOUDEST potential 8, 10, or 12. Is there anything I can buy NEW that will be louder then a type r?

Probably not for around $100. Type R will be your best bet most likely.

I usually reccomend the Type R's for the $100 budget.. or get a DD 1508.. I saw one 8" do 153db outlaw on 1500watts in a single cab s10.. it sounded alot louder than u would ever expect one 8" to sound

Why brand new? You're seriously limiting your options. Go over to the for sale section at DIYMA. people there take care of their equipment so you won't find much garbage for sale.

Also have you considered OZ Matrix Elite? VERY nice subs and get pretty loud with not too much power. Theres one on Ebay right now for $56 for the 12" version.

Alpine Type R's or Hifonics BX12D4's have my vote.
