Best sub and port placement? **PICS**

Im planning on building a new box for my DD 9515 In my 1999 Honda CR-V, Right now i have both sub and port facing back, box is tuned to 50-55 hrtz I would like to build a box that is tuned a bit lower somewhere around 32-34 hrtz. What would be the best sub and port placement

box needs to be 31 1/4" wide and no taller than 18" can go all the way back to the back hatch dont know the measurement on that right now

Common for an SUV is sub up port back, but "best" can only be determined by trial and error.

Why the 50-55Hz tuning???

no thats what the box is tuned at now i would like to drop to 32-34

I was questioning why the original box was tuned so high....

Around 4-4 1/2 cubes should work for that sub if it's like a 9515.

you can lower your tuning a few ways. one is to lessen the net volume of the box by putting wood blocks or extra bracing inside (but not within the port). another thing you could do is break the port into separate sections so its not just one port, but 2 or 3 or 4

Wrong.

If you reduce net volume of the enclosure while maintaining port length and port area you will increase tuning.

If you reduce port area while maintaining port length you will lower tuning.

And as we all know, the changes aren't exactly linear. Hey CR_V your box is not tuned to 50-55 its tuned to about 40 i should now i built the box

We are not concerned about reusing the existing box guys

he was asking which configuration generaly yeilds the best results in an SUV and i figured it was sub up port back, like stated above

and i think a net vol. of 4.5 to 5.2 cubes
