Best Speaker OPINIONS

Well, I honestly don't know that answer. I somewhat answered it above. As far as I know, tymphany has nothing to do with the new generation type-x drivers. But, I've yet to find anyone to confirm/deny that. They do, however, have the same 'slit' design... though it appears to have changed a bit.

I would like to know that myself, foxy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
You should buy my MD102's and not worry about that Alpine crap! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif The Dyn's just disappear. Maybe that's why people say they are 'natural' sounding?

No, about mine and in general.

Bandwidth. My L4's are LP at 8k (thanks phase plug?). Never could get the Scan above 5k and still have it play quality midrange. The drivers were direct swap, in and out of the same kick. Like I said, once you try to run the 12M IB, things happen. Just my experience, but a lot of other car audio freeeks I think would agree.

I agree with you on some of your comments. I thought the L3 was plain old boring to listen to. The L4 is a breath of fresh air compared to it. I'm not going to go into the audiophile sound nonsense, but the L4 is one hell of a capable midrange with excellent plug and play capability. The Scan 12M is like a anal sphincter before a proctology exam; you need to romance it a little to get it to open up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
I would have agree the, L4 is the driver I referring to. You can found my thoughts on the L3 in my review I wrote. SQ is just to subjective, and as said everyone should listen for themselves.

This the bottom line for me, both driver have their strengths and down falls and both have proved themselves more then once. You couldn't go wrong with either.

Man, I was going to buy a guy's md100's but I just couldn't swing it. Not for the install I'm doing. It just doesn't warrant $115 tweeters, however good that price may have been. It just wasn't worth it to me.

But, I'll give you $100 for your 102's. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yea, I figured you guys were refering the L4's. As was I.

I'm running the Scan in about 0.027 cubes and it seems to be just fine in that.

At least we can all agree to disagree. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

For running a single tweeter center channel? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

You must mean cuft? I think mine are about .6 L sealed. Don't know the cuft cross reference, sorry.
If I needed a driver to play ultra high and really "kick" down low then I'd choose the L4. If I wanted to driver to be technically perfect and have ultra transparency from 300hz to about 4-5Khz, then Scan. All depends on the other drivers selection. The LPG alum on top of the L4 is very nice. The L8 on the bottom is ****ing crazy. I've had other combos, but I like those the best. But then again, I am nuts.

Use the L4 on it's own without a tweeter? No way. Not for me, anyway.

Sorry for all the thread jacks. Now back to your regularly scheduled anecdotes.....

What's the fs of the tweeter? I might just be able to get it to play down to 100hz and use as a center channel. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Yea, cubic feet.

What you said completely defines what I needed out of a driver. I needed 200-4k and this does it just fine.

*yea, I did see where someone has the L4 w/o tweeter... crazy*

this isn't threadjacking... check the title again. As long as we don't state facts, we're golden!

.6L is about .027 cu.ft. or very close. 1L is .035 cu.ft.. I would not run the L4 with out tweeter either. I have not heard a driver that I would. Have not heard the Genesis 3" yet:D:rolleyes:.

Have you guys listen to the little Peerless 830986, I think you guys would really like this little driver. I was really suprised by it.

I see you bought the millies..... I heard these at sound innovations in haywayd about a year ago plus, powered by a sony deck they had and a 4.1 with a hertz sub... off... then on.. Anyhow listen to zebop track 11 on your refrence system then listen on the millies.......Give us some feed back. I honestly can say i was not impressed for the then 1k price tag...Let us know.. I choose that or diana ks blvd broken dreams piano break... track... Thanks in advance for your input, might have been that sony deck......
