Best Speaker OPINIONS

that is probably theeeeeee most important part of selecting a "high end speaker" back in the day people used to put mb quart or other hind end speaker grills over elcheapo speakers and you would be suprised at peoples reaction just because what the grill said on it LOL same car same speakers different grills and it went from sounding shitty to "WoW man!"
You people have no idea how true that is. I did this with my amps, when I competed years ago in Panama when I was in the Army. Bought some mid level amps out of the base PX and the car never did very well, turned them over to show the guts, they were white so people thought they were PPI's and me your car sound very good. And turning over of the amps and add plexi is all I did.

Glad to hear it... I just bought a pair of HERTZ MLK 165 Mille. I will be running them off a JL HD 600/4 http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=482

When I see that some of you are running these speakers active.... and I see no active xover in your equipment list... are you using the xover on the amps?

I don't see how you can do both low pass and high pass on the mids... how are you doing this?

I got on Hertz website and answered my own question... seems as though they allow for bi amping through the passive xovers... that is not active, just bi-amped.
The amp does have a good crossover, however the DEH 800prs has all the control...from Low, mid low, mid high and high. Although I did have an authorized store do the install for me in Miami...I play around with the crossover freqs on the head unit depending on the type of music and song.

Im running Alpine SPX PRO's off a PDX 4.150 amp.

I replaced a set of boston pro 60's with them . Tweeter is 100 times nicer in the Alpines , the bostons were a pain to listen to after a while and had to be attenuated heavily.

However the aplines I found needed to be crossed over at a higher freq than the Bostons as they tend to bottom out a bit If pushed pretty hard.

I have mine crossed at 95hz at the moment, I'm reluctant to go any lower!

The crossovers are very adjustable and come with different plug in modules so you can adjust for speaker placement and listening position. I was very impressed with them although they are slightly large to hide comfortably behind the door panel for instance.

Def worth the $350 I paid for them , Can't wait to finish work now to listen to them on the way home! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

No he's just wanting to say he thinks JL is so good you don't need a component set...Only a sub.

Just wanted to try and figure out the state of mind when that was posted. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Im a Focal fan, but as others have said, the most important thing is installation. PLEASE put whatever drivers you get in a properly sized sealed enclosure! Im still trying to figure out how the hell to make room in my doors, but Ill get them in an enclosure at some point.

The 3-way kp's are a great option. I run the 165VR's and love them.

As for amps, you dont have to go crazy. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't be driving my nice components with an alpine PDX amp. However, I am using a PDX 1.600 (turned down) to power a 10w3v3-4, which IMHO is a great combo with plenty of headroom if you want to add another sub.

Personally I power the componants with a Focal FP 2.75 amp, but if I was doing it again I would just pick up a JL 300/2.
