Doesnt matter if you fold the rear seat... your choking air getting back into the cabin by the box. Fire forward and seal off if you **** up that much space with a box. I'd venture to say your bud isn't nearly NEARLY as loud as he should be.

A db is a db... louder is louder, no matter how much it is. If you refuse to drop half your cone area to gain, thats your call.

i'd have to agree wit spkrman 15s sound like *** in a trunk, unless you have somethin big like a lincoln or an old caddy my friend has a dd9515e in his cavy facing forward and it sounds like *** my g/fs 2 12s are louder than his 15

Yes but your girl's car has more cone area, so by theory the 15" according to spkrman should be louder because there is less air necessary to perform properly. The 2 12's require bigger trunk.

So really you're not sticking to your theory because the 12's dipslace more air than a single 15. The 15 should perform better.

Yes but you are saying that the 15" won't be as loud as a 12 because you can't fit a big enough box and still allow enough open air to get the sub to breath. But 2 12's take up more room than a single 15" so really a single 15" should be louder than 2 12's.

Loudest single sub setup to date has been Richard Clarks 60" MTX woofer, technically it was IB. Was closer to 180dB than 175dB, and about 90kw. That's all I remember.

Another ideal setup would be an RE MT or Adire Tumult / Maelstrom in a sixth order bandpass dual horn enclosure. A real horn, non of this scaled nonsense like the Imperial Folded horn. You'd be looking at 50 to 100 cubic feet, depending on if it was a 15 or 18, but efficiency and output would just insane.

yes... typically in a trunk one 15 is louder than 2 12's.

But, I said one 12 is louder than one 15 in most trunks... read up as to why.

Your trunk = part of the box

Ok when i started this thread i wasnt expecting this to happen lol, but anyway what do you guys think i should do, i have 2 infinity 1230w's and they arnt loud enough im giving each 250 wrms and they need 300 so soon ill be getting a kenwood kac-x811d and give them 400wrms each but im sure i'll still want more. so in my 1992 bucik regal where i can fit up to a 3 cu ft box and want to keep my current amp, 1000 wrms, wat sub set up so u guys recommend for 200$ shipped, i could afford 1 15l7 or type-r 15 but maybe 2 $100 12's would be bettter for SPL. Although i do want a little SQ still but %75 SPL.
