Best single subsetup for SPL

trunk car, one 12 is your loudest setup period.
one 15 and your choking air off.

but... 100% depends on vehicle.

One 12 can definitely SLAM http://www.thecaraudiobox.com/eventpicsandvids/OneTypeR126105.wmv //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
wtf??? will YOU just SHUT UP already PLEASE!!! geez i swear i take a break from this place for like a month and the forums are already becoming a zoo. you said a type r has more low end than an L7...BULLSHIT.

one 12 louder than a 15? please, can we ban this guy already? no one cares about your one 12. my L5 10's put my friends 04 type r 12's to shame so just shut up already wow

type r's are KNOWN to lack in low end. L7's have peaky responses sealed, but in a properly tuned ported box, they get LOW.....the Sd helps duh

one 12 louder than a 15, yes.... in a trunk where you CAN NOT put a box too big in, yes.

Type R's known for no low end? huh? L7 is the one that can't put much out down low... cone area means nothing. The l7 15's have a decent low end, beyond that, no.

Your l5 10's > his 12's.... now make those l5 10's > my type S 12's... its gonna take a 152 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. It's called install...

those were 04' type-r's no one in this thread was talking about the 04's so why are you? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

just tell me how a 12 is louder than a 15. i really don't see how anyone can't fit 3~4 ft^3 in a trunk. even if it takes up every last bit of space, it will still be louder. Sd doesn't mean anything? last time i checked, the more cone area you have, the lower you go and the louder it is at those lower notes...simple physics

and i haven't read anywhere in this thread distinguishing the use of the 04s vs the 05s...seeing as hardly anyone has much experience with the 05s...well, i'll just leave it at that

I have more experience with the 05 type R's than you do with any woofer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Your not listening.... if you have to STUFF the box into the trunk, you just got quiet. Your blocking airflow into the cabin. Its like building a wall in an SUV, but firing it to the rear...?

In a majority of trunk cars, one 12 is louder. And more cone area DOES NOT mean louder and lower!!! Its all in the install... the box has to be designed to take advantage of the woofer in the space given.

Go to a few shows and see how bad you get beat by less cone area //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

oh btw... tommyk1990's type R 10 149 at 44hz... according to you thats impossible.

getting a little arrogant are we? more experience with one sub than i have with any? are you making this assumption that because i have cheap subs? that's a pretty premature statement considering you don't know me nor my history.

no...i do know that blockign airflow compromises your results, but i really doubt one fifteen will take up that much space unless you drive a yugo. and you keep saying majority of trunk cars. are you saying if i got rid of my box that's taking up my entire trunk, and replacing it with a box half the size employing only one of my subs, will be louder? sorry my friend, put down the crack pipe. or what about my buddy's two DD's in a 12 ft^3 box that he had to assemble in his trunk because it was so big...would using a smaller box yield him better results? NO. you dont even know what his setup his, and like you keep repeating, it's all in the install right? so why would one 12 be louder than a 15? you really aren't addressing the question specifically nor completely.

and when did i say one type r 10 can't do a 149 db? where'd you get those hallucinagens cuz i want some..

If your rear firing, yes... building a box that takes up less than 60% of your width WILL be louder. Try it.

If ure buds DD's are firing forward, it doesnt matter how big the box is. If its firing rearword... he wasted his time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

so wanna paypal me some funds so i can buy some mdf and show you how absurd your little theory is? i'll wager my entire system if my one 10 gets louder than my current setup with half the width that it's currently at...

his 9900s face the rear...it's called folding down the rear seat //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

OKAY... for all of you that are arguing about 1 12 being louder than 1 15 or bla bla bla

What about my situation?

My trunk can only fit a box 14 inches high (which means I can only fit 12s unless I fire upwards)...

Right now I have one 12" 2005 Kicker CVR in a 2.0 (after displacement) ported box tuned to 34 hz powered by a BX1000D

It is loud and sounds good, but im getting addicted and want more.

Do I:

a) buy another CVR and build a dual ported box

b) buy a better 12 and swap it in place of the CVR

c) buy a 15 and have it fire upwards

Doesnt matter if you fold the rear seat... your choking air getting back into the cabin by the box. Fire forward and seal off if you **** up that much space with a box. I'd venture to say your bud isn't nearly NEARLY as loud as he should be.

I'm not going to send $ for your MDF.... build it yourself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. I'm also not going to trust you to build a loud box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

i'd have to agree wit spkrman 15s sound like *** in a trunk, unless you have somethin big like a lincoln or an old caddy my friend has a dd9515e in his cavy facing forward and it sounds like *** my g/fs 2 12s are louder than his 15

Your *best* bet is one 12 and more power.

100% depends on what your trunk's dims are though.. if you have enough width one 15 can work great.

What do you mean?

What sub would you suggest and my amp isnt enough?

What sub would be the best with my amp?

And could 1 12 really be better than 2?

If the CVR handles your power fine, then you have no worries. Any "better" sub will likely be less effeciant and will not be louder.

More power, a sub that can effeciantly handle it, and your gravy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
