klein tools
x2!!

i use just a basic set of Klein crimp/ cutter's for 10- 18ga wire

and the Klien 8-4/0 ga hand held crimper ( looks like a bolt cutter ) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Klein or channel locks (own both love both) Klein also has a little wire stripper that is not cumbersome to use in a vehicle...if you are doing things on a work bench the tool Req posted are the best in a car the Kleins or channel locks... i have both types and i use the old school more

vice grips work for most all of my crimping meeds. i have one that you put the ring terminal in and hit it with a hammer and it crimps it. those are myt 2 personal favorites
neither of those are crimping that is simply flattening something around the wire and the wire is still very likely to slide right back out of it.

I have been using snap on crimpers for the last few years. I love them. Have never let me down. For anything bigger than 4 gauge they have a huge 1/0 crimper that works great. Don't go cheap on crimpers you will use them alot.

klein style crimpers and strippers are the accepted norm

The yellow auto strippers posted on the first page are ****ing godly for certain applications.

but Ive had some of the "cheapo" style crrimpers that worked fine. You know the cheap looking universal stripper/crimper ones? I still have a pair that can be used to strip and crimp up to 2 awg wires.... if you have a good enough grip //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

By the way.. for 1/0 terminals... I use the following

1) Channel-locks

2) Flux

3) Table-vice

4) Thick *** silver solder

5) Blow-torch

6) Razor-blade

I figured out the best process to get the solder to seep through the whole end. I never crimp 1/0 anymore

For bigger terminals I find myself using a center punch and hammer for the simple reason that I can't find a good crimping tool locally. I have a Klein crimper for smaller terminals and once I started using that, nothing else was even adequate.
still better then a hammer by itself

home depot however sells an impact crimper good to at least 1/0 IIRc

klein tools
x100000

you should have a few pair of these in every toolbox to be a real installer

and just a normal set of quick strippers for stripping small wire, anything bigger you use a blade

and to cut power wire...

we have a pair of hydraulic crimpers we use if we are in a tight spot and can't use a hammer.

any other time you put the terminal on 0 gauge put it on the floor or on an anvil and hammer it down
