Best navi unit for the price.

So im about to pull the explorer out of storage and use it daily. it has the stock unit in there now. i have been looking into dvd/navi flip ups for a few months now and just dont seem to fully get it. it seems like when im comparing apples to apples there can be as much as a 4 to 500 dollar price difference between HUs. my theory kind of is if im going to spend 800 plus i might as well get the best i can get at that point or close to it. but i would also like to keep it reasonable. i would love to only spend about 1500. i just cant justify the difference between a 1500 dollar navi unit and a 3k navi unit. i also realize that the best dosnt always mean the most expensive. so what it comes down to is, whats a good navi unit, hard drive based, thats great for the money.

if you are willing to spend about 1500 you can get the Kenwood excelon doublde din,i cant remember the model number but it has a 13 band eq,time alignment and built in nav

my boss got the double din kenwood installed about 3 months ago in his MKZ and he loves it. we are in sales so we are always traveling around. he liked it so much he bought the other co owner one for his F150. so im looking into the exelon flip ups. i can get the Kenwood KVT-819DVD (1200 on crutchfield) for 9 on ebay new, sealed and not a referb. then i can get the navi brain for it, the Kenwood KNA-G510 (800 on crutchfield) on ebay new, sealed and not a referb for 300 tops. with all the features for 1100 bucks that is looking nice...
