Best Low-end (price wise) Headunit

I installed the Kenwood KDC-X589 around six weeks ago and I'm VERY pleased with it. I got mine from Locust Audio for $158 shipped. It replaced a four year old eXcelon X717 and it's better in every way imaginable.

You'll be hard pressed to find a better HU in the $150-$160 range. Of course, Crutchfield is asking $250 for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

The simple answer to your question is Yes.

eXcelon is to Kenwood is what Premier is to Pioneer. Same company, better products.

The eXcelons will normally have a better CD s/n ratio, higher voltage preouts, higher resolution D/A converters, etc than the comparable model in the regular Kenwood lineup. Kenwood backs the eXcelons with a 2yr warranty as opposed to the 1yr industry-standard warranty. (if bought from auth. dealers)

You can pick up a used 6600Pioneer for that price range...maybe
I picked up a 6600 for my cousing yesterday for $130... Useds for 2 months and doesn't have a remote...

VERY good unit for that kind of money... Graphics, EQ, Everything Pioneer offers...
