Alright basically I'm looking for the best headunit that I can get for around 150 bucks. A few of the ones I've been looking at are:

Kenwood MP-528

Pioneer 4700

...then after reading through some of the threads on this forum I also threw in the KDC-X589... and I see a lot of people talking about Eclipse HU's being very good, but they're said to be a little more pricey....

so basically... what do you guys recommend? Out of these or whatever you think is the best value for this crappy price range I got

You can pick up a used 6600/6700 Pioneer for that price range...maybe

Or a last years model Kenwood...Kenwoods are shweet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I vote for Kenwood with some specific models in mind.

Kenwood KDC-MP4028, Cheap HU with all the options you need and none of the options you don't.

Stay away from theKDC-MP 528 and theKDC-MP 5028, i didn't like them.

Anything in the Excelon line is very good,

The KDC-MP4028 and the KDC-MP7028 is the best in the non-excelon line.

Review-

The regular line up that does not have the extra zero is there bottom level stuff, example- 528 as compared to the 5028, they make the 3digit line for Best buy and such while the 4digit line is for small dealers, the 3 digit linup lacks some important features so I reccomend the 4digit line.

Everything in the Excelon line is completely decked out and will be good.

IMO, anybody who tells you eclipse decks are pricy is an idiot. 5V/55ohm pre out decks start at $179, authorized.

that's great info... i've been wondering about that.. thanks. i'm assuming it's the opposite for Pioneer... the 3digit line is better than the 4digit one?

DEH-P470MP > DEH-P4700MP ?

here's a really inexpensive option with lots of features:

i've got one, and it is cheap feeling, but it has performed fine. 2 sets of preamps @5volts each, ones a sub out. plays mp3's, has a remote, decent power output. i think its a good deal.

I've never heard of that brand.. and I'm willing to actually spend a bit more for something a little better... I can spend about 150, but thanks for that website.. they have some good stuff with some reasonable prices
