Best for SPL?

So ya, i'm kinda giving up on the whole "buy an unknown sub off the net" thing. So now i am curious about brandname subs. Something that i can pick up from a local store or buy on a discount website like woofersetc.com.

Who makes better subs and which are better for huge spl? I can spend around 300 for subs.

Kicker (the L7)

Apline type R

Pioneer tsw3004spl

jl audio (the 6v3)

any other brandname i missed

oh and i found this guy on a website while i was browsing. Anyone think it's any good?

Another big question i have is how do i compare them myself. How do i know which sub goes lowest and loudest with least amount of distortion.. like what parameters measure that. Is it the FS and Xmax ?

ok so pioneer is best of those. I keep hearing all this hype of the type R's. What is the big deal? and how do the tsw3000's stack up with them?

though there are far better choices out there that are not listed...and with enough lookin can problly be foudn used in good condition for around the same price.......

Just got my type-x installed. Woah. Just woah. If you got the cash its impressive. Its everything everyone said and more, its output is substantial and does much more damage than the two type-r 10"s i had. Granted that the two 10"s wanged and sounded great on the pitiful 350W each i was giving them. Either one would make you happy. Ive got this X 12 on 1000w and its very clean and doesnt lack in horsepower what so ever. Im just balking at the amount of rattle fighting im going to have to do. I have it running off of 4 gauge right now and my ground and power connections **** because its a temp install. I cant imagine what it will do with the big three, my HO alt and some 0 gauge. Makes my hair shake as it is now.

Oh and Etronics has them back in stock now for $250 compared to crutchfields $500 or Wooferect $300

EDIT: aww, i misread the thread title. I was thinking SQL sorry. Im installing 2 type-r12s in my buddies ride soon, in like 6 cubes. Ill let you know how it sounds. If the output from some underpowered tens is any indication, then it will be skull splitting.

Better subs for around the same? Well then how do i find them and compare. I can't just go listen to all of these speakers because most of the local shops dont carry the ones you can only get online...
