Best Enclosure for my HDC315?

i didnt catch it...is this 3.5 NET? or gross?

if its gross, then you need to step down a woofer size.

1)smaller the box, the long the port will be

2)bigger port area will lengthen the port

if you are goign with 3.5 net, you can expect the sub to see roughly 2-2.5 cubes which just is not nearly enough for a 15. step down to a 12 if thats the case.

edit: as for tuning...i wouldnt reccomend anything above 34hz or so. i have 38hz now, and i liked it better in the 33hz tuned box it was in first.

awwww finally....I think I am going to be able to 4.5 gross....so that may help things out

the dimensions I have to work with are 18x28x15(HxLxW)....roughly is 4.4 but I think I could do 4.5 gross...

unfortunatly, thats only 3.41^3ft gross, assuming those are external dimensions. i would stick with the 12

am i backwards or would 3.5 gross equal 2-2.5 cubes..not net?

no, you are correct. i meant gross //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.
thanks for pointing that out.
lol no prob...had me worried there. for a second i thought i just built a tiny *** box for my 15"...

to dickey..id say 4 net cu ft depending on ur power levels.

and how am I doing this wrong?
isnt is (HxWxL)/1728
yes, but you need to subtract 1.5 from each dimension to get internal measurments.

the way you are doing right now is measuring how much the entire box takes up. you need to find out what the subwoofer see's inside.

I'm gonna say there is a reason DJ recommends 4.0 cubes @ 40hz. I don't know waht happened with George but I see no reason to have to tune that low. Mine plays plenty low @ 40hz.

ur definition of plenty low isnt the same as ours. i wouldnt tune anything above 35hz..dont like the sound. mines at 34hz.

I hear that it performs best 38-40 and would like to try 38....

I may be able to go bigger like I said, bc I did fit a JL 12w7 HO box in there(will never do it again!!!), and I think its more like 5.4 cu ft
