Best deals on HD TV's ?

Well the Dynex 42" went back up $100... right when I went to go buy it. Anyone know of any other 42" 1080p's for ~$600?
that's gonna be hard to do. If you didn't mind 720p their is a Panasonic on dealnews.com I don't think you will be able to tell the difference between 720 and 1080 on a 42" however

I suppose I'll try and get a nicer brand 720p... if you really can't tell the difference between 1080 and 720...

A lot of people think that just because you have a 1080p set that your going to get a better picture... this is not true at all. In fact, the only thing that will benefit from having 1080p is if you have a bluray dvd player. Currently no tv stations broadcast in 1080p, so if you don't have a bluray player or a ps3, then you have no need for 1080p. Of course i'm sure eventually tv stations will broadcast in 1080p, it probably won't be anytime soon. It takes up way too much space, and cable providers have a hard enough time getting 720p/1080i channels to you... I wuldn't worry about 1080p unless you have a bluray player because by the time you really need 1080p, tv's will be much cheaper, the tech will be older, and you will be able to upgrade then.

this poast is full of win. And even the 720p channels that are broadcast are highly compressed

lol i know people seem to think that they need 1080p, when in reality only like 5-10% of people would actually use it! It is going to be a while until 1080p is used for anything other than bluray movies, so unless you have a bluray player or plan on getting one in the next year or less, I would say go with a 720p tv for now. Then in a year or so, 1080p will have less marketing hype and won't be as new so you will be able to get displays for cheaper!

I guess we could say that the tv companies won though... "1080p FULL HD" haha looks like everyone is buying into it...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
