Best Components?

I know alot of people on here dont like rear fill, but if someone wanted to add a simple inexpensive set for the rears to runn off deck power just to have a little something in the rear for passengers, what would be a good set to go along with any of the component sets in this thread?

Focal K2P's can be purchased for $400 on ebay or here if you get lucky. Or, Rainbow Profi's with Titan tweets would be great too.

But if you're trying to lower the budget just a tiny bit, Rainbow CMX Kicks would also fit the bill (I believe there is a pair up for sale in the classifieds).

i have polk momo mmc 5x7's for my rear fill, i sending 60rms to them and they sound very nice and push out nice lows suprisingly they are extremely nice speakers. coax.

A local shop here in town has a set of the Focal 165KP for $399 BNIB. They are on woofersetc for more than that. Think that would be a better bet than the 165V2'S?

So then the Focals are a good choice for that price range?

Im thinking of getting a Kicker ZX 450.2 to run them, only $170 so i thought that was a good deal and its rated at 150x2 @ 4 ohms at 14.4v so the speakers will see a little less than that

yah, those $399 focals you mentioned would defnitely fit the bill. Not to mention, you can haggle with the local store. Above all else, you get to hear the speakers you're going to get before you get them.

Focal K2P's would be awesome, or if you wanted a little cheaper so you could spend on deadening, a little more powerful amp, etc, you could get the CMX's for sale for $220 shipped in the Classified section here....that's a really good deal on those, too.

I wouldn't go with the focals. Every review I've read describes the tweeters as unbearable, and why pay $400 for just a woofer and a passive xover? I was going to get them originally but then researched them exhaustively and red something like over 10 different reviews on them

Here are some better recs than the K2Ps:

-Rainbow CMX 265 Kicks ($250ish)

-Hertz MLK 165s ($500ish - WAY better than the focals)

-Hertz HSK 165s (~~ for the budget audiophile)

-IDMax xs65 (check ebay for IDMax comp sets)

Go with either the IDMax, rainbow, or hertz but don't waste your money on the k2ps because I almost guarantee you are going to regret that

where have you been.... they have been the boner for budget comps for a while on here now!

My purpose is just to give the OP a heads up that every six months or so a new forum boner arises. No, I have not heard the PG's and I will probably never hear them. If someone comes here looking for a set under $100 I may even say that I have seen others give them a favorable review -- with an understanding that I have not heard them personally. I do find it difficult to believe that a set that can be had for less than $100 shipped is going to merit the attention they have received lately, but whatever.

Online Car Stereo sells the PGs for $129. Could probably be found for cheaper, that was just the only place I looked.

I listened to the Focals again today and i'm not impressed for the money. The 165V1's have zero bass and bottom out very easily, the V2's take the bass better and the 165KF's do awesome, but the sound was very dull, lost alot of the treble. You really have to step up to the 165KP's to get a really nice sound, and I'm guessing there are better things out there for the $460 i found them for online.
