I work for Verizon Fios..wish you could get it..

comcast is alright if you have good cable in the house, otherwise shitty coax will give you shitty tv/internet and the phone is technically Voip over Coax so it aint anything special

Comast also doesn't have as crazy contracts as Att

You do realize that Verizon FiOS uses the same coax that Comcast uses once its in the house right?

And the phone is not VOIP. Comcast uses its own backbone and switches to control public telephony just like Verizon. They just transmit it over a coaxial medium instead of the twisted pair that Verizon uses. Coaxial offers better shielding = less noise, better quality sound. I wonder if you realize that Verizon is using the same technology now since switching to FiOS?

And your 100mbps d/l speeds are scheduled 4 years out. It seems you need to do more research on your own company. Don't get me wrong, FiOS is great, but its technology is already 30 years old and the cable companies have already perfected it. Read up a little on how Verizon is losing money because they overspent on building a new infrastructure, but are not reaping the benefits of new customers. It happened to AT&T when they built the same plant 25 years ago.

BTW Comcast DOES have a 50mpbs plan. They also have a 200mbps plan in the works.

I pay 135 for cable, 1 dvr and internet with Comcast who keeps raising my bill every few months. Just a few cents here and a few more there but over the years it adds up.

Would like fios to come out here to try the new cable from verizon but being out in the sticks I know it is going to be similar to when we waited for DSL/Cable coverage.

Not true, in my area anyway. Fiber is layed right up to my home. Then they use a converter box to go coax internally as to take advantage of the homes' existing coax wiring. The bandwith on the fiber to my house is my own, as much as I'll pay for. They also convert to twised pair phone wire off the same box for the same reason.

i get like 15 channels in HD ... over the air.. like with an HD antenna on the roof.

Verizon installed the fiber optics at my house for no costs.

$109/m for unlimited long distance, digital cable + stars & showtime, and 7mb internet which is 7mbps dl and 4 mbps ul

As far as the two peoples earlier convos about cable vs. verizon...

All I will say is no matter what you know tech wise, I know from experience in my area. Verizon for reliability (internet has never been down)(TV has never been down)(Phone has never been down) 5+ years

Previous to that Comcast had given us issues and we switched. My neighbors hate comcast. Once a month they are at our house to use our internet...

Cable sharing hubs vs. other techs not is a complete and utter myth. Yes cable does connect to a central hub and you share with other users which then goes to the CO and backbone. If they have enough hubs you will never notice a slow down, I live in a subdivision with 5mbps Charter and have never seen speeds slow down at any time. With fios or any other connection you may directly connect to the CO, but guess what they do there? Combine all traffic and put it to the backbone, same thing but the combination happens in a different area, so if theres huge traffic loads, it will slow down just the same as cable will. Also, the big cable companies like Charter and Comcast have been using fiber for their networks for many years now, its nothing that Verizon or ATT are doing new there.

Hello i have been searching for a new bundle provider. My choices are AT&T, Comcast, and RCN. They are all within $15 bucks of each other. We do nothing crazy that requires 200 channels, or super fast internet. Just basic cable / internet. All the company's phone service is the same. Who has what, and which company is the best??????? the hell with comcast!!!!had them for almost 2 years this last time and had them for a few years before that. they keep raising their prices......and to me their service wasnt that good. probably just me but my internet service was horrible. intermittant connection. would go out for a few hours almost everyday. on top of that i had vonage........well if the internet is out then the phone dont work!!!!

i switched to ATT a few weeks ago, and the service has been good. prices are going to be comparable. it might just be me but the channels on dish network seem to be clearer than from my comcast cable

Also have to add that Over the Air HD will look better than cable or satellite as both cable and satellite companies recompress the signal using their own compression reducing quality, no matter what they want you to believe.

Do you have to get on the roof and install an antenna for OTA HD? I live in a condo so they would not allow it but something that just sits next to the TV might be feasible.

Also OTA HD means no static correct? Either the picture comes in clear or doesn't?

Mine is indoors. I got the cheap one from Walmart made by Phillips. In retrospect, I am probably going to upgrade to this so I can get a few more channels. But OTA HD > Cable. I have seen it for myself. The only thing I don't like is my TV is widescreen and HDTV OTA still has the bars on the left and right, whereas my parent's do not.
