best buy subs...

WCA Carlton works at a best buy and he knows more than anyone in this thread i would guess //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

edit he actually works at circuit city, same thing IMO

I wouldnt really bash on best buy that much. Just think if you worked there and everyone was talkin shit about how everyone there sucks. I am sure if you get one good guy there they can really teach the rest on whats right. So i think there is really no need for bashin, maybe some places just have shitty people, but some others just might be quite knowlegeable
I would hope that if they're knowledgeable, they would find out soon that their knowledge means shit to their employer & their customers, for the most part - and they'll move on to a place where it's valued //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That is how I am, except I work for CC. I wouldn't say i work with complete idiots, except one or two, but everyone there is somewhat knowledgeable.

My customers usually take my advice and suggestions while shopping and they end up learning something. And my bosses appreciate my knowledge. So i must be lucky. But i'm not getting the $ I deserve. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

My knowledge is definitely valued by my customers, but not (like you said for the most part) by my employer (bosses).

Same here.

I would expect my bosses to start appreciating my knowledge considering that every time myself or one other guy isn't working, the tech associates fill in have no idea what they are doing. Usually an installer has to take the sales floor thus reducing the amount of install labor that can be completed.

On a different note... I am curious if anybody that works at a BB or a CC or an equivalent has a hard time selling overpriced junk (for the most part) to people that are sometimes bleeding their wallets dry to get what they want when you know there are much better deals to be had from non-big name manufacturers.

That is why I could never work sales. I would hate to watch people spend more money than they need to. I can't stand even watching it if I go into the stores.

It really sucks. I can't tell you how many times I have referred people to other sources to acquire equipment in order to avoid the high retail costs. It really sucks when somebody comes in, and you can tell that they don't have a lot of money, and basically empties their wallet to get mediocre gear.

^-- easily the hardest part of my job - selling overpriced crap to either underpaid or financially lower class people.

I went into best buy the about 2 weeks ago from some 3ft rca cables. I was lookin at rockford single twist cables. I was lookin for there dual twist for a little bit better noise rejection. I had the single twist in my hand and asked an employee if they had anything better than the single twist. He said that was the best rca cable they had in that store. I proceded to ask him why the single twist 3m cable and dual twist cable 3m were two different prices but "the same quality"? He gave me the I have no idea what you talking about look.

Yeah... I hate seeing people waste their money there... They have some good stuff, but it costs twice as much as you could get it online...

Racerx250- Thats not nice... You shouldn't do that to people...

Anyways.. BEStBUY/ CC are great to get TV's and HT stuff at..

Yea, my sister got a slammin' deal on a 42" Samsung LCD from Best Buy. I thought I could find cheaper elsewhere but she paid about $200 less than anywhere else I could find before shipping and Best Buy shipped it free.

Eh.
None of their home theater stuff impresses me.
Well, I don't know about BestBuy... I guess I should say CC... They have a bunch of Onkyo and Denon stuff. Pretty nice, but UltimateElectronics beats them by far..

As for prices though? Thats the best palce to buy HT, and TV's for the price anyways...

Samsung LCD's FTW! I really want one if I can get one at the right price.

I ended choosing a Toshiba over a Samsung... Like 300$ less, for basically the same TV.. For the price of the Samsung I could have gotten a 50" 1080p DLP... Memorial day sales are a really good time to buy TV's..
