Best Amp for 2x Type-R?

Yes, but there's no point in sacrificing your upper end for rock music to get a better lower end if you dont listen to music that plays that low. Since he wants the double bass, a box tuned a bit higher would be better suited for him than a box that is tuned lower.
For me, I love the lows. I don't care for anything over 45 hz really so I don't need a box that can play that high, so I'd rather sacrifice that higher end to have a better lower end.
Kick drum is like what... 50hz? You should be able to get pretty flat up to 70hz and still play the lows with a good bit of authority without building a box for the low lows //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Wouldn't be a true ground pounder, but I've heard a lot of stuff get way loud way low and still play up to 70hz or so.

See I wanted a true groundpounder lol, like a low 20 hz warrior, so I didn't really need to play up to 70 hz

As long as he gets a good custom box, he'll be happy lol

I'm not a fan of hifonics amps.
Neither am I.

If OP is trying to keep budget down, a PPI Phantom 1000.1 would get the job done on a single Fi SSD and should do more than rated clean... they clamp about 1200 from what I've seen and heard. Good budget amp, hell I run a Phantom 4 channel on my front stage.

Sorry guys, I was typing as you all replied hahaha.

Thanks again for all the responses!! You've turned me from two type R's and a thousand bucks in upgrades to.. I think..

1 Fi SSD15 and an American Bass VFL 80.1

Now the 80.1 is the way to go, even though it's only stable at 1 ohm?

Isn't 2 ohm a little easier on my electrical system?

And btw, I'm driving a dodge stratus, and if you saw where the battery/alternator was.. you'd understand how reluctant I am to do the big 3 lol.

Also, where the crap can I even buy a VFL 80.1? "No Internet Sales Permitted"?

And you guys say to grab a custom ported enclosure, right? People selling them on here?

Yes, the 80.1 is the way to go if you are willing to pay for it. You are gonna have to **** it up and do the big 3, and probably add a second battery.

Those amps a built around 1ohm. They are just as good as pretty much every 2ohm amp

I callem Tupperware. Use, abuse, break, throw away.
You'd be surprised at how good the little 4 channel sounds... from what I hear it's fooled more than one SQ competitor, but it will eventually be replaced with something a little higher end //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You think i'd need to do the big 3 and get a second battery even with just 1000w RMS?
I would do the big 3 at a MINIMUM.
