Best Amp for 2x Type-R?

Hey guys, I'm building a new system and was wondering about which amp I should get if I plan to get two 12in Alpine Type-R subwoofers?

The peak power is stated to be 3000w, but surely that doesn't mean I need a 6k amp, does it?

Or should I get like a 3k amp to handle the 1k "max RMS"?

(My past audio experience was a rag tag bunch of components I pieced together and abused.... I want to do it right this time, and learn along the way)

What size box are you putting them in. Larger box usually demands less power handling whereas a smaller box will allow for more. And you deff. don't want to max out your subs power rating id say a good 1000-1500 RMS amp would be sufficient.

You can sure /thread if you'd like to fork over the extra $300 that your magic problem solving amp tears out of my budget.

But anyways, sorry - should have said my budget. It's around $150. And I'm actually not sure what box I'm going to put them in, obviously the best and cheapest one I can find.. but I'm just not sure what that is!

craigslist a soundstream, hifonics or audiopipe amp that does around 1500 rms and it should be fine and within your budget.

but if i were you, i'd wait off until that budget gets a lil bigger so you can do your setup right

if your electrical system is not good, it doesnt matter what amp you get, its going to not put out good power, you can get it for temporary bass but make sure you upgrade your charging system if you dont want stuff to break down in the future.

no i haven't yet. Would two Type S's be better? Would that eliminate electrical issues and work better with that amp?

Thanks for all the help guys, I really do appreciate it! Trying to learn all this stuff

:\ i'm getting thrown all over here, not even sure what i should buy anymore.

i just figured two 12's would be a great sound and have great power, but now i'm being directed to one 15?

I'll break it down and let you decide.

2 Type rssss($250ish?) will need 2000ish watts($300 plus) to preform and a decent size ported box, if you do not have the ability you will need to have one designed and built, I would get one from somebody off here other then a shop($150ish). You're going to need to support that 2000 watts(up to $500 or more). Type Rs are OK, not bad but not great.

1 Sundown SA-15($220) will need 750 watts($150), box not as large but could be if you have the room($150), no added support. Those are very good subs in that power range.

The Sundown has the potential to hang with the Rs, all install dependent.
