Best Amp for 2x Type-R?

Will 1 15" type R be as good? i'm looking for non-muddy bass.. but if i got a hifonics brutus 2400w amp with 1600w @ 2 ohms, wouldn't it be able to handle the two "300w-1000w" type R's?

i've just never heard of sundown and it seems like i've been looking into this for quite a while and just got thrown into left field towards something i've never heard of

Sundown makes good stuff. I looked at your car and I think you only have a 95 amp alternator. It's going to be pretty hard to support 2000 watts on that kind of electrical. You are better off with DDtC's suggestion unless you plan on some electrical upgrades.

I'd take Sundown SA's over type R's any day. Heck, there is a guy here in town who is probably doing 150's on music on 3 of Sundown's E series entry level 15's, and it gets low and musical to boot.

You might look at Fi as well, I like them. Don't think that a product isn't a good product because your local audio shop doesn't carry it. Few shops carry the "good" stuff. You can get DD, Focal, Hertz, JL, Treo, and Hybrid Audio in my town for example... spread between a half dozen shops. Those are the only things I could buy local that I would consider running... and would really probably only run DD, which I do, and Hybrid out of those choices.

ok, ok you guys have convinced me ha. Would that sundown sound "muddy"? Like would it handle drumrolls and stuff well?

Another possibility i considered was one 15" Rockford Fosgate T2 - thoughts?

Thanks again for all the help guys!

Some examples to start looking at. Digital Designs 515 or even 1015, Sundown SA as said before, Incriminator Audio, Fi, DC, SSA Gcon could be very good also. There are more but that will get you started. As for amps I belive American Bass has a VFL 800, if so it will be very good.

The R is OK but not in that league, its a great starter sub to somebody that didnt think to do what you are doing right now

The subs I've mention will sound better then a R by far. Stay away from Rockford subs.

And electrical upgrades get EXPENSIVE... in my case $600 for an alt and another $600 for batteries... to support around 3000 watts. *****, but you gotta do it... and I'll be able to upgrade to 6000 watts plus down the road as my budget allows.

That will depend more on the enclosure than the sub. Just whichever sub you pick, get a custom box made; do not go with a pre-fab.

You can get a custom box built to your specific music tatstes.

The only drum rolls your sub would play would be double bass... and in a proper box they will handle them fine. I would look at Fi SSD or Incriminator Audio Lethal Injection 15"s off the top of my head if that is the route you want to go. You can "usually" get by with about 1200 watts as long as you do the big 3 and add a battery... either sub would do great on that power.

Boxes shouldn't really be built to "specific music tastes." They should be built to properly reproduce sound. If they are, anything you play on them is going to sound great...

Yes, but there's no point in sacrificing your upper end for rock music to get a better lower end if you dont listen to music that plays that low. Since he wants the double bass, a box tuned a bit higher would be better suited for him than a box that is tuned lower.

For me, I love the lows. I don't care for anything over 45 hz really so I don't need a box that can play that high, so I'd rather sacrifice that higher end to have a better lower end.
