Hey guys,

I'm looking to replace my 2004 Tacoma's front speakers with some 6x8's. (Its the stock size and I don't want to mess with mdf rings and fabbing something up)

So, hit me with what you got. Are the infinities any good? that seems to be all I've been able to find in that size.

make plates and get 6.5"s, open to alot better options

only ones i know off top of my head are infinity and Rockford that make 6x8 components, bosotn makes 6x8 plate with 5 1/4 mid and tweeter on a plate

i wouldnt use the cheap metal plates that come with speakers either, make some out of 1/4" or 1/2" mdf

These come with plastic not metal.. attach the plate to the door and put a single layer of dynamat or your deading material of choice over it...cut out for the driver and mount it...... he asked for a set that would fit WITHOUT HAVING TO CUT WOOD OR FABRICATE....

Anyone have any experience with the Infinity Kappa/Reference line?

They look good price/powerhandling wise. How do they sound?

thats what im trying to say, its not hard, you can even buy them, still made of 1/4" mdf or some wood, tis what i have in my rear doors, but i made some for the fronts

did you start the thread off about not wanting to have mdf rings? i mustve skipped right over it, just went back and noticed

hertz does make a 6x8 set, go product >>energy >> comp >> esk570

http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/default_en.htm

only thing about hertz is your not gonna find them on the net hardly if at all

Here's what I know: In my 2004 Tacoma I've had JBL GTO 6x8 comps, Infinity Reference 6x8 comps and Boston Acoustics SL60 6.5" comps. The JBLs and the Infinitys both sounded OK, decently loud and fairly clear, both had kinda harsh tweeters, both had pretty weak midbass. I installed the SL60s in 1/2" MDF adaptor rings on the stock speaker plates, but I cut 1/2" off of the mounting surface of the plates. Same amp, same locations, etc. The SL60s absolutely kill the Infinitys and the JBLs in every way.

Go 6.5" Round. It's worth the extra work.

I ordered some RSD 6.5's comp (I know, hop on the bandwagon, but seriously they're $87...)

I don't know If I can make mdf rings...... Anyone sell them for a decent price?
