haha ya i look back at the post now i see what u sayin, thats now what i meant, i know the gain is a constant power. sorry for the mis-wordingWhat i meant is i don't turn my gain knob on my amp up like most people do.

but na i have a Alpine head unit running 105 Db signal so i keep my gain as low as possible really.

its the Alpine CDA-9885, one of their best from what ive seen.

You are confused. 105db is the deck's rated signal-to-noise ratio, meaning how clean a signal it outputs (speaking very basic here). What I was talking about was the strength of the output signal (RCA outputs), which would be a spec rated in volts. Probably somewhere between 2 and 8 volts.
I spent a few mins trying to find out your deck's output voltage, but I was unsuccessful. Just google it, or possibly reference your manual.

as u can see I'm lacking in the car audio knowledge department, but i just recently got into it as a hobby so i learn new things every day.

and i just looked it up its 4 volts. i just saw my head unit specs compared to others in a crutchfield magazine. looked like mine had best specs on the list of about 30 they gave.

ya ive been comparing prices and peoples suggestions.

for about 300 i can get either of these:

FI BL 12 (site says its next tier up from the Q series, and only about $50 more)




the more i look into it, the harder the decision haha.

i like all the other options but these come with factory warranty, which is best idea in my mind. i know im getting them straight from a factory no BS, so i dont have to worry bout used or refurbished subs

oh ya, im goin for a 12'' cause im putting this in an integra, a 12'' sub box barely fits as it is, so a single 12'' is ideal for what i need.
