Best 12'' to run on 1500rms

Hey i have scanned all over the site, and seen some good reviews on 12''.

Ive found some subs i like but haven't seen anyone running a single 12'' on a kicker 1500.1 amp. it rated in at 1653 RMS, and has been pushin (2) 12'' CVX.

I need suggestions as to which single 12'' sub will run well on it.

Im goin for SQ more so than loudness.

Have seen the w12gti, SE, Fi, DD, like them all but need more info.

im lookin into the w12gti MKII more so than the others cause ive found a great deal on one, but it says it runs 700rms and peaks at 4000. didnt know if it will handle me puttin 1653 rms to it. i will not be putting it to the limit on that wattage anyway so.

also seen Cadence Daytona series, says it handles 1500rms at 91 Db, but i know the other cadence series subs aren't too great so.

any feed back or stories of someone running a single 12'' on 1500 rms would be great.

Ya does anyone know exactly how much the w12gti's handle on rms.

i was lookin into the DD, and SI but they are expensive,

the the w12gti have 91Db

the hdc312 have 88 Db

so if the w12gti could handle it I'm leaning towards that.

if anyone can find good deals on the DD or SI line then pls put a link up here, i cant find them for any good price comparable to the w12gti's and the hdc312

The GTi's are awesome subs, Ive really had my eye on them lately. But I suspect that's simply too much power for it... being about double its rated handling. You could adjust the gains artificially low to decrease amplifier output (and distortion). Headroom on a WGTi would sound real nice.

Ya i don't turn my gain on anyway, so if i had no gain and bass boost off think it would run them okay?
rofl, wtf did you just say?

you don't set your gain? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

ya i set the gain at the first notch on the amp, so about an 1/8 of what it could be, keep it as low as possible, don't wanna distort my subs. They hit hard as hell without the gain turned up at all, where as i see people that turn their gain up all the way and it sounds like complete shit, and then they blow their sub a week later....

why u laugh at the low gain set?

He was laughing because you said you dont "turn your gain on". The gain is always 'on', its merely an adjustment for the amplifiers input sensitivity to the strength of the signal voltage. A head unit that has a 'hotter' output signal (higher voltage) will require a lower gain setting on the amp to compensate, while a weaker output signal will require the gains to be adjusted higher. So as you can see, the gain is never 'off', its just adjusted to its proper place and left there (hopefully). Your wording was... funny. Im sure he meant no offense.
While Im glad you know enough to not simply crank your gains higher for more output, as so many people try to do, you still should really know the proper way to set your gains. I believe this board has an amplifier gain setting tutorial as a sticky at the top of the page, you should read it.

BTW, last I saw a couple days ago someone was selling two cherry 05 RE XXX 12's for a very reasonable price, on the for sale boards. One of those would handle 1650 watts daily without breaking a sweat. Id check into that.

haha ya i look back at the post now i see what u sayin, thats now what i meant, i know the gain is a constant power. sorry for the mis-wording

What i meant is i don't turn my gain knob on my amp up like most people do.

but na i have a Alpine head unit running 105 Db signal so i keep my gain as low as possible really.

its the Alpine CDA-9885, one of their best from what ive seen.
