Benzo Sittin Low....Why?

Ask anyone who deals with those cars. Both GM and Ford made some tough stuff during the 80s, atleast compared to what they do now.

As someone else said, its all in how you maintain it. I wasnt aware of the "ecotec" motors or whatever, but ive always heard of the little econobox cars like that breaking timing belts and ruining everything. My point was, that overall, we dont put the effort or quality into cars like we used to years ago. Imports dominate now. Eventually the US will be overrun by immigrants and imported vehicles/products.

lmfao , you need to do some research. I have been working on cars for along time and the 80's were some of the worst years for us cars. Also imports have dominated since the 70's you have no clue nor do lot's of others that forein and domestic auto manufacturers have been using each others stuff forever. Dodge used mitsubishi, Ford used mazda stuff and gm used toyota stuff. Remember geo? alll toyota cars. Pontiac vibe is a Toyota matrix the list goes on.

Interesting what you think you know. Where did i say the 80s were the best cars we ever made? Hell, atleast it was better than the 70s. What we can atleast agree on, is that cavaliers are pieces of ****. That cavalier will go to the junkyard due to a catastrophic failure long before anything of mine will, unless ofcourse you trade it in or something. Incase you havent noticed, everyone is slowly merging over to getting you to come back buying more and more of the same thing. Have been since the early 70s. Either that or making products where you have to constantly spend money on them. Back in the day we spent years developing it, to release it and have it last forever. I suppose you will argue that todays engines are superior in reliablity to engines like the dodge slant 6s and ford inline 6s from the 60s-70s-80s?

The 4.7, Already had to replace so much and then this happens.
welcome to jeep ownership, you would think being what a jeep is made for they would be built better , but it's not the case. I price up huge tickets on almost every jeeep that comes into our shop because there is so much going bad on them.

Nope, you are not worth my time to argue with anymore. You are clearly ignorant when it comes to the automobile industry. By the way i have never told you what i think i know, these are cold hard facts.

Cars seemed built better 'back in the day' because they were simpler. Most of the innovation in cars in the past 20 years has been computerization, and accessories. This means more parts. More parts means more crap to break. More crap to break means more time at the repair shop. Remember this the next time you want to buy a car with heated seats, auto-adjusting mirrors, auto-dimming headlights, air suspensions, etc. That stuff is great for the guy who can afford to buy a new car every few years. For the rest of us, its just a big hassle.

also, they are trying to take human error out of the eqation with all of the advanced technologies like abs, traction control, throttle by wire and so on . Computers can react faster than a human and help avoid acidents. They are heading towards cars driving themselves, some already do. The problem is these electronics have problems and they are expensive to fix. The manufactures keep using cheaper methods of building so they can have more money in their pocket. The auto industry is truly a global market and has been since the 70's. As I said before there is no such thing as forein and domestic cars and hasn't been for a long time.

I actually agree with that post.

Good job with that one. Especially if the motor and ****** are og. If you take care of it, anything can and will last.
