Behringer A500 2x230rms amp and boston G512

71.5% makes you a believer?

Plus you aren't driving full range you are only driving a sin wave...

Drop it down hard to 15Hz or so or test it with filtered Pink Noise and see what you get...

That wouldn't make me a believer...

To me from my experience with the company, Behringer still = Junk...
Yah but the guy doesnt want to spend a bunch of money.... after owning a $6000 amp and comparing it to my $1,500 amp I can honestly say that unless the smallest smallest details bother you then its a big waste of money....

btw

so 71%

but thats why i threw in I was running a 14 gauge 20 foot extension cord that is was also running the dvd player and receiver for the test... so their must of been major voltage drop.

Other more detailed test's have shown that it has less then 1% thd at full tilt and 1950 watts output. So if that isnt what is considered good what is? FR? you seen my graph let me see the FR of your martin logan that probably costed 2x the price of my sub setup.

Yah their is other things that matter but to some like me we can careless...

I didnt see the OP say I want to spend allot on an amp, He asked if it would do the job and it will.

You can round to 72% if you like... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Why didn't you measure the voltage drop?

We have had this discussion before... I listen to 99% music 1% movies... The Martin Logan Subwoofer is only used for Movies. Btw, I had listened to a shit ton of subs at the $600-$700 price range and it sounds the best for the price that I have heard. I would rather have my ML than what you have any day on 2x reasons. 1) Cheaper (Driver + Amp + Wood + Ports + Time = Way more money)... 2) ML Probably sounds better. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

There is a difference between amps, and you are right Behringer will get the job done, but a Geo can also finish a race. It might be dead last but it can still finish...

Oh and by the way it is "a lot"...

Why didn't you measure the voltage drop?
I got kicked out with a 3 months notice and dont really want to push my luck... he says it has nothing to do with the stereo but I dont want to stir ish up...I did find a nice 3 bedroom house to rent but it will only be me and my girl and my son and her sister living their no more "strangers" which I might be getting after the end of this month....

I spent $700 total with amp/box/driver and spent about 30 minutes on the box...and my FR is +-2 dbs from 18 hertz to 45 hertz and does 126 dbs at 18 hertz. Now since you said you use it for ht LOTS of movies are encoded with subsonic frequencies so does your 10" go subsonic and in the 3 digit db area? If that isnt what your looking for (flat response, very high output, extremely low thd) then what is it then?

but a Geo can also finish a race. It might be dead last but it can still finish...

This is one thing, was the geo built to race or for daily driving? will say a $10,000 car get you from point a to point b any different then a $20,000 car? I was thinking of getting a new truck but what for? it does it job well so why spend $25,000 on a car that will do everything exactly the same? When I could put that towards the new house (dedicated ht room)

uhhh....

unless anyone can reccommend another amp for around the same price that will power the sub...i got nothing else

maybe this oaudio plate amp...500@4ohms 325@8ohms?

how much power will the boston need in a HT app?

one thing i learned today after watching WAR OF THE WORLDS
subsonic filter is a must... lol
No it isn't. Just more cones in an IB install //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Then you can leave volume down and still get some decent output even down that low. I don't run into woofers bottoming out. My problem is how do I keep the rafters from moving to

You can have too much bass.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
In music of course, but in movies, more is usually better.Just because a system has the potential does not mean it needs to be driven to that point as well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif A Porsche can go 70MPH too.

I dunno if its headroom or dynamics but this is what I noticed

def tech subs

1. all the explosions sounded the same, as far as output goes. roar or bass heavy note same thing

tc 2000k with the ep2500

1.Their is a HUGE difference.

I cant really explain it, its one of those things you have to experience on your own.

i cant afford 400$ for an amp

i need something right around 200$, i want atleast 400@8ohms

will the A500 work? this isnt a super sq Home theater or anything like that, just want an amp that will power the sub good
