War Eagle!!!
at the moment it looks like im gonna be running a boston G512, probably in about 4 cubes at ~20hz with a single 4"aero, i dont know much about HT stuff, i might tune a little higher because i dont know how the g5 does on stuff under 25-30hz

reason im going G5 is because i have 1300credit i won at a competition and have nothing else i really need and ive been wanting a decent sub for my ht, right now i have a cheap onkyo 8", so anything will be better

i need an amp that is 8ohm stable or 2ohm stable and does atleast 400rms or so

and after looking i found the behringer a500, does 500x1@8 0hms, but is this a good amp? ive heard of the name after reading some stuff, but dont know too much about it

how will 4 cubes do tuned to about 20hz... good for home theater?

or how about 2 240w plate amps, comes out to like 20$ more than the behringer

it is actually cheaper than buying the behringer and Fmods

but i wonder if i can fit 2 of them?

i wish the G5 was single 4:(

cheap is more of what i want, to get a big enough plate amp to do 400ish at 8ohms would be pricey

im trying to get out of this cheap hence i went with the boston G5 cause i could get it for free

it says 500rms @8ohms, the sub is 450rms and box will be biog so i dont need huge power anyways, which is better on my wallet

I don't think that behringer is made to power a sub.
I agree...

400 Watts at 2 ohms or 8 ohms...

I am guessing the sub is dual 4 ohm?

So why don't you get a stereo amp that will drive 200 Watts at 4 ohms?

You wouldn't even need to run 2x runs of cable because you can parallel the amp with out having to bridge it (most pro amps you can).

I wouldn't cheap out on the amplifier either...

Something like the QSC PLX1202 would do you great...

But, if you wanted to go cheaper the QSC RMX840 or the Crown XLS202...

I seen people are saying its ok on the avs forum and I am now a believer of the behringer amps after a test I did yesterday.

I have no way of knowing the thd values for a test I did yesterday, but I do know the clip lights werent turning on at all.

testing an ep 2500 behringer

30 hertz test tone

I got 16.5 amps and 104 volts

and I was running a 20 foot extension cord. So I bet the voltage drop was pretty bad

71.5% makes you a believer?

Plus you aren't driving full range you are only driving a sin wave...

Drop it down hard to 15Hz or so or test it with filtered Pink Noise and see what you get...

That wouldn't make me a believer...

To me from my experience with the company, Behringer still = Junk...

i dont want to spend too much over 200 if that, so what can i get to power the sub

will it need its full 450rms for HT work since it will be in a bigger box playing some low notes?

ive thought about getting a 500w plate amp and doing it until maybe 1 day i get some extra money for a RLp or something along those lines

its not goona be hard to impress me over this 8" onkyo POS

Search ebay for rack amps. I see no reason to go for looks but if you look around enough you'll find some that are beat up but work perfectly and will power your application just fine. I'd personally look for QSC or Crown.
