Direct Ipod Connection Problem..

Can't help but notice I lose some sound quality when I'm playing my ipod versus a cd with the same song. I use an alpine 9881 with direct ipod connection and i wanted to know if there was a way to fix the distortion when playing mp3's through my ipod. I realize that the sound quality of mp3's are far worse then regular commercial cd's but i was just curious.

Try putting the .WAV version of the song on your iPod. It may be better but probably still not true CD quality as there are D>A,A>D,D>A conversions going on.

do you have it connected using the aux jack or the ipod interface?

my girlfriend on her alpine used the aux and i used my interface and their is a world of difference. almost night and day. i dont know the science behind it but it was.

did you try tuning differently. i know in my 9855's manual it shows a couple settings you have to change if using the aux jack. check ur manual where it talks about playing mp3's and maybe it will tell you something you didnt have set... i dont know. worth a try.
