I have been weight training since 1984. I have trained with body builders and power lifters. Pretty much a basic gym rat. I worked for athletic clubs (as a lawyer), still involved with athletics in some capacity on the legal level. Still lifiting, doing cardio. I am no longer doing any heavy weights, just a lot of cardio and strength training along with stretching.

I have tried about every "supplement" out there. Good protein powder manufactured by a reputable company is the best dietary supplement. I stick mostly with Optimum Nutrition and Champion Nutrition. Metabolol II is a product that came out in the late 80's and I have been using it since it came out. It is a great product, but be careful how you use it if you are trying to lose weight or body fat. Glutamine powder is also good (in your protein drink). I also consume cod liver oil or salmon oil every day and also consume flax seed oil. There are lots of things available, some legal, some not legal. Lets just say I have tried a lot of different things.

There are some other manufacturers like EAS and Twin Labs who are great companies to buy dietary supplement powders from. EAS has a very good product line in my opinion, of different protein supplement powders. However, EAS has been sold a few times. It is now owned by Abbott Laboratories, a pharmaceutical company.

Yes, steroids work. But that is a topic for some other thread. I don't think you need to take them, but the results can be very dramatic. I personally think it should be legal to take them with supervision of a physician, in low doses (not the stacks that pro body builders take). Problem is that so many people who exercise have some form of body dysmorphia and they would just keep taking more of the stuff, so I guess you would have to give the would be user a full psychiatric evaluation first.
