Before I start my installation please help

I dont want to blow any fuses or mess anything up so Please confirm these are the correct steps to take. (This is my first time)

1. Disconnect Black Ground wire from car battery

2. Mount everything in correct places

3. Hook up my speakers

5. Hook up amp to my headunit

5. With no fuse in?? hook up my power wire to the positive on my car battery

6. Ground my amp (doesnt matter where?)

7. Hook back up the car ground battery.

Is this correct?? Im confused on the whole when the fuse should be in thing.

after you disconnect the battery negative, you can do whatever you want in any order...

Ok so nothing really matters, just worry about putting the negative back on absolutely last when everything is already all hooked up. I saw a video and they connected the amp to ground last, should i do that before or after?

if the battery negative is disconnected you can hook up everything....then reconnect the battery

edit: most likely they had the battery still hooked up when doing the install

ground needs to be on an unpainted part of the frame. Or any unpainted metal.

I always disconnect the negative battery terminal....then after mounting amps, speakers, etc., I always ground everything first...I just try to make it a habit so if by some remote chance you "lose it one day after being up for 20 straight hours on an install because the rich customer is going on vacation and you hook something up wrong and blow a few fuses that you don't have any more of" you can still get the job done and on time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I thought the beer was a given and didn't need to be mentioned? Maybe that's where I went wrong

Disconect the battery, you dont really need to, but since its your first time it may be a good idea. Make sure you ground to the frame, not any metal connected to the frame. Sand off any paint so you get bare metal. I like to use tapping screws to screw through both of the metals in multiple places giving the least resistance possible. Now hook up the power wire. You need a fuse, its ALWAYS a good idea. Then hook up your amps rca's remote wire and ect. Dont run remote wire with rca's. NEVER run power and signals together. When hooked up test power, connect wire. What I do is hook up the power wire and take the fuse out so no chance of me shorting out the battery. I find that the fastest easiest way to hook up subs, speakers and amps. Good luck.
