Before I even start to plan.

I want to upgrade the system in my camaro from a 12" FI Q to a 15" FI BTL. I want to know if anyone has done this or if its even possible. I want to put the box in the hatch well, the box will be ported. Before I even begin to plan I would like some input as to weather it is possible. I of course will be building the box so if anyone has done this or has some tips for the box they would be appreciated.

Do you believe that I will be able to make the box to spec and have the mounting depth required. I'm worried about mounting depth because I had problems with it when I built the box for my Q. The mounting depth for the 15" BTL is 8.75". If this project gets off the ground I will more than definately make a log.

what year camaro? on the 98-02 gen you could make it all along the well, with 2 4" aero ports on either side and have the sub in the middle, so it goes all the way down like 20" or something depth, but idk the biggest you could prolly fit would be around 4 cubes, unless you glassed the entire thing.

It's a 96, and I have never worked with fiberglassing before. I don't know if a 15" sub will be able to be mounted in the middle of the well. The clearance in the middle is shortened because of the hatch latch.

I think the box I will be looking at building is likely a 3 cube or so box with the sub mounted on one side and more than likely a single 4" aeroport on the other. I will make the box as tall as possible so that I will be able to mount the woofer. If it wasn't already so dark I would be outside taking measurements. Tomorrow i'll take some measurements, and if I can give the sub the room and mounting depth it needs I may take a trip to Lowes.

If I purchase the sub and go through with this perticular build it'll be running off a US Amps XT4000d for a while. Then hopefully either a US Amps AX3200DE or Sundown SAZ 3000D(3500D will likely be out by the time I have cash for a better amp).

I did the measurements today. If i mount it correctly the spiders should just clear and the magnet should be able to go into the lower part of the well. I'll plan to make a test box throughout the week and see exactly what I'm dealing with.
