Battery

550 CCA is tiny for a battery. Wow.

If you're getting voltage drops that bad, you're pretty much going to need a deep cycle. Save up a little more money. The red tops discharge and recharge a lot faster than yellow tops, IIRC. The Yellow Top would be a better choice.

I don't want to see you buying an ebay clone and having it turn out to be a cheap normal battery with a yellow plastic cover or a compromised-durability B-Stock dry cell. The extra money into a better battery now will pay off 3 to 4 years down the road when a cheap one would start to fail.

how many amps do your amplifiers pull combined? If your exceeding your alts limit...i doubt a battery is going to help a ton.
I have no idea, but I my hifonics has a 60 amp fuse, and my jensen has a 25 amp fuse, and I have an 80 amp inline fuse by the battery, and it hasnt blown ever. My altenator is supossed to put out 160 amps.

Another thing, well when my amp was working today:

I only get voltage drops down to 12.8 v only on higher notes, 50hz and higher, and the higher the frequency, the more of a voltage drop I get. 70hz is at a constant 12.67v. At a 40hz tone, The lowest it will drop is to about 14.00v.

With nothing on, I get a steady 14.85 v.

I believe that's due to the impedance curve of your woofer / box / amp / tuning combo. It sounds like your system is turned to high bass, are you running a small sealed box, or ported with high tuning for SPL by any chance?

no amount of 12.5V batteries are gonna help you if your dropping to 12.8. the battery does not operate up in that realm. the only device pumping out anything higher than around 12.5v in a normal car environment is the alternator.

buy a second, or a bigger main alternator. 200A+

if you dont, your still gonna drop down below 14.4v no matter what... unless u run a 24v system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif but your not..

Nope. Did you happen to look at my sig? I have fairly large box, 4 cubes net, tuned to 30hz for SQ.

Possibly just be the amp, not being as effiecent on the higher notes?
