I found this hidden in the shop, I found out it was used to power the sound room when we had one. Its a big a$$ battery. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about it.

Any info would be appreciated.

Ummm...a close up of the label would help.

As long as it's 12VDC and has a decent Ah rating, go for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

what are the dimensions?

It looks like it might be a locomotive battery or something. There was a guy had a competition that I went to earlier this year that had 2 locomotive batteries in his van, they were huge as hell, that one looks like it could serve a similar purpose, but I can't tell how big it is by looking at those pictures. Almost certainly for commercial/industrial application though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

it doesn't said anything on the label, just stuff about safety precautions. I talked to the guy that owned the shop he said had 16 amps on that one battery in the show room and that its a deep cycle 12 volt industrial.

Was it sitting on a concrete floor?

If it's been sitting unused, not on a float charger, for a year...it might be starting to go bad. Charge it back slowly, and see what kind of voltage you get out of it. Load testing is really the only way to see if it's still there.

Yea ive seen thoes before, When I worked at my uncles over the summer bellsouth had one of them each in their 25kw genrators. They say only about 1500 CCA but they crank the big diesels for a long time. They have a real long run time. The only ones that ive seen were lead acid. If yours has 6 Knobs or so on the top its prob lead acid. I think we got em for like $200 a pop with a company discount.
