Battery upgrade stock alt?

So I know this is the place to ask, I have a 1998 ford explorer xlt 4.0 ohv. I am gonna be upgrading my setup real soon here, I am gonna be doing 2000 watts to 2500 watts. My question to you guys is that if I get a xspower battery can I use my 90 amp alt or is my alt gonna not keep that battery alive or fry my alt? I don't have the money do the alt and battery at the time I can do either or and I wanted to know what is best route to go.

Thank you.

Always start with the alt if you plan on going bigger power. You can't get power if you can't make it. You're 90A alt simply won't be enough for 2500, I honestly don't even know how it handles 2k. I'd be more worried about killing your amp with low voltage than anything else.

I would do an alt first but I am running a us amps md3d (~2200 watts amp) and a 300 watt mid and high amp on a 90 amp alt, 220 ah of battery, Big 3 0 gauge and two runs of 0 gauge to the back and hold 13.5v at the lowest. About to run 5k but with about 320ah of battery, 275 amp alt and 4 runs of 0 gauge.

i can tell you that my wifes jeep liberty i installed 2 hifonics amps, one 400w 4 ch. and one mono 1200w, it has a stock batt. and alt. did the big3 upgrade and that didn't help, my lights dim like crazy people think i am flashing the brights at them. ordered 2 batt. and am looking into a new alt. and this is not near the watts you are going to run so yes do the alt.

i had 320A 6 phase alt and 160ah of batteries and i would occasionally dip into the high 13's running id say around 2500 also. some people get lucky and run big power on crappy electrical and nothing bad happens but others aren't so lucky and they break Sh_it. but better safe than sorry so save for a decent alt first.

yeah them alt are a killer. I was thinking of running to stock alt at 130 each I would have more then enough for my 2500+ power needs....I wonder if I can get away with a 190 amp alt. which are way cheaper....im in the same boat as you.

I wish I still had some of Explorer battery pics from back in the day...But a single Batcap 4000 is all you need

your gains are prolly too high....

that was true before I tuned it, now that it is tuned I am able to turn the volume up to 60 without distortion where before I could only turn it up to 35 to 37, but either way it was dimming before and after tuning, when I look at the gains they look pretty close to what my h/u puts out, i'm going with the new batt. and extra batt. first then the alt. second.

yeah I think im going to get a new alt also...I upgraded my alt for the stock 80 amp to a 130 with a smaller pulley..so I might be getting 150+ amps and my lights dim like crazy my my voltage doesn't really drop like crazy...it could be my grounds...one day I will upgrade every ground just cuz...
