Battery questions

I've never had more than the stock upfront battery.

If I wanted to run two extra batteries in my truck (94 Sonoma 2.2L) how would I go about doing so?

Could I use 6V batteries or two 12s be better?

Would I need buss bars?

I think I was quoted $250 for a yellow top optima, 55ah.

I don't really want to pay that much for a yellow top, and as far as I can find, its not worth it?

Is anything on this page http://www.batteryhouse.ca/products.php?wc_copy=51 worth purchasing?

Don't run 6v batterys... Run 12v bats and just run them in series to front bat pos to pos and ground to frame or run neg to neg too if you got the $$$.. We don't know how many bats you need because we know nothing about your system...

you can find yellow tops on here, in good condition, fairly cheaper than that. pretty well priced on egay as well.

Ehh IDK if I want Kinetik... due to the CCA stuff and the lolsuit.
How many of those would I need?
We tried out smaller high amp batteries from other companies and under the hood they were crap, tried another in the back end of a larger system (still under 2000 watts) and needless to say they are both in motorcycles now (they were used in spint cars before that)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

CCA converts into audio power how? considering it is a spec where it matters that it stays above 7.2v for 30 sec and absolutely no care for it staying above 10v for even one tenth of a second . also my 1400 has lasted longer than any optima i have owned (1 yellow and 2 red) and 1 of those systems the optima was in is even smaller power wise than the system i have now.

How many would you need? would depend on the size/power of the system. Considering you are talking about a small yellow top i would venture to say we are not talking about that much power. If you are talking about 2000+ watts I would look into a group 31 optima or a 2000-2400 kinetik. A 2000 watt system will not ask for 1000 amps of current, it won't even ever ask for 300. To music it would probably even be much less.

Oh sorry guys I forgot to mention stuff about my system...

I have two Mach 5 SPL-12s, and will soon have a Crossfire VX4000D to power them. I'm in Canada too, so it makes things like getting batteries a bit more difficult, well at least where I am.

You would want to use 12V batteries for a 12V system. You want to look for batteries that are designed for car audio. A true deep cycle battery will give you long run times, but not very high current output. A traditional starting battery can give you the higher current output, but for a very short time. A good car audio battery will balance out the current output and runtime. You will be able to play your music at full volume for extended times.

No need for buss bars if you have good wire. No reason not to use buss bars other than for safety reasons. Wire has a protective jacket that keeps other metal from shorting your connections.

CCA and CA are specs that relate only to starting your vehicle. They mean absolutely nothing when it comes to car audio. They are both measurements of current output at 7.2V for 30 seconds. CA = 32F and CCA = 0F temps.

No audio equipment will run below 10V let alone at 7.2V so those CA and CCA outputs will never be achieved above 10V.

That would be run them in PARALLEL. Always remember to fuse BOTH ends of your +POS wires when connecting 2 batteries. Always fuse based on the wire you are using. You should always use at least 1/0 wire to connect batteries. You should always use the same size wire to connect the -NEG posts as well.

FYI a series connection would result in a 24V bank. That would be needed for some hydro installs.
