battery question

your alternator is there to charge your battery and run the accessories of your car. the simple answer is, if your alternator can't properly charge the batteries, then you need an alternator that is capable of doing it. reading your above post, if you had 4 batteries hooked up to a stock alternator, you can pretty much bet your rear end its not gonna be able to charge all four.

your system goals will determine if you need additional batteries, high output alternator, or both. but generally, multiple batteries on a stock alternator isn't a good idea.

thats what everyone says but i do know this much,

an amp does not draw power constantly,

so when people say your alt needs to cover as much power as your amp draws is false

like for instance bass hits for 3 seconds then off for 2 seconds, it will charge batts during the 2 secs

An alternator is not a battery charger it is a very basic maintainer that shouldn't be allowed to charge up a dead battery or deal with a sulfated battery. A sulfated battery is an under charged battery that will not recharge smoothly.
