battery question

hello... im gunna be installing a aq3500d.1 soon and between that and the highs amp i will be pulling close to 450 amps of current daily but not for more than 10 minutes at a time... my sig has all of my current install electrical but i was wondering whether to keep the optima or get rid of it? and also what batteries will i need to handle all this current draw?...thank you

Really how do you know how much you will draw with that setup? How much box rise do you have? What you will have to do is test your system to see how much power it will take to operate. Even if we could say how much power any amp can pull it does not matter unless you know how much box rise you have. Also anytime you are taking away more power than your alternator can make then you are at the limit batteries don’t make power they only store power for a very very short time not ten minuets.

im not sure of the box rise but if that number is high does that mean the amp will draw less power than rated?

It does mean that so to save you from buying expensive things that you don’t need wait and do a little testing to see if you need more power. You can hook up everything and test it and if you then need to add more alternator then go for it but why buy something you don’t really need huh.

very true... but i am not going to be able to fit another alt in my car no matter what because of the transverse mounting configuration of my car.... the max amount of alternator output i can put in my car is 250... but i was looking at some kinetic/shuriken batteries and is it a good idea to keep the batteries i have and add a kinetic 2400 or shuriken bt 120?
