Battery Question

Ok, so long story short. Ordered a new Stinger spv35 online. Installed the battery and everything was fine. The first cold day the car wouldnt start. Got the battery checked at a local store and they said the battery rated 12.44 volts but only 125 CCA when it should of been 525CCA. So that was why when it got cold it wouldnt start.

well talked to the website, stinger, and they deemed it defective and sent me a new one and i got to keep the bad one.

my question is can i still use the defective one? the battery still sits at 12.21 volts so if im not using it to start my car can i use it as a second battery?

if you put it on a slow charge like 2 amps for a full day it might go back up, you will have to do it and then get the cca checked again, if not I would really just see it as a an additional load on your alt

so then just because it holds a decent voltage doesnt mean its usable? dont know much about batteries and thought since i wasnt going to use it to start the car that the CCA didnt really matter.
