Battery Question...

I have my 2 Optima Yellow Tops wired in Parallel. ( Positive to Positive... Ground to Chassis, Ground to Chassis ).

If I were to run in Series, would I totally mess myself up... As far as:

1) Blowing ever fuse in my car

2) Blowing up my batteries

3) Waist of **** time...

4) I would be fine...

I really want that effect of 1 BIG *** battery ( 24v - lots of current ). but my car, 99 Nissan Sentra, is 12v ... Soo. If that's not an option, what would be some suggestions???

Thanks in Advance!

DJ

So you want to run 24 volts to a car amplifier designed to run on 12v??? And you want those 24 volts to go to your cars electrical system which is designed to also run on 12 volts???

Does this even sound safe to you??

Good way to fry most of the electrical components in your car...

Also will probably kill your amplifier(s) as most newer amplifier can't take that kind of power, some very rare old ones can (I don't remember why, I want to say they used unregulated power sources, but this just sounds wrong).

Anyways it's a bad idea, maybe if you parralled 2 8 volt batteries and only ran these to your amplifier, but 24 volts is a bad idea

if u wire 2 batts together its not giving u 24volts. I thought u knew ur sh it man?!
U sure about that?

Series wiring increases voltage but NOT amp/hour capacity.

Parallel wiring increases capacity but NOT voltage.

Maybe u dont know yours //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok...so ur tellin me that wiring those to batts together eqauls 24 volts.
If its true, wouldnt that fry ur stock electrical, its only ment for 12volts.
Cmon man think about it

You cant run 24V without something burnin up period-- You can however run a seperate alternator to just the rear batts.. If their 16v batts, and the amps can take it i.e alotta xenon boards then your ok, and now making more power

Don't do this.

Yes, two 12v batteries is series will be 24v, but no, it is not better for the amps, and the car definitely can not handle it.

It has to be way more than an unregulated power source on the amps also. Different internals all together to run 24v.
