Battery Question (Is it OK to run a d3400 and d3100 together in the back?)

Is it OK to run a XS Power d3400 and d3100 together in the back or do they have to be the same models? Was gonna put the 3400 up front but think I'm gonna run my power/ground off the alt so I really don't need the 3400 up front right? I've already paid for the batteries so I'd like to use them if possible. I was told by someone not to use a front battery and to start my vehicle from the battery bank in the rear because a separate front battery can sometimes get over or under charged, Is this true?

It's fine. Just keep them maintained, you should do that anyway.
