battery or cap?

Okay guys, I have a problem. I just bought a new amp, and I am running around 1100 watts now, before I was running 500ish. Well I have dimming lights now. I do not want to replace the alt. It is however a 140amp alt., also I've done the big3. So should I run a seperate battery, or a cap? I can get a 1 farad cap for 100 bucks, but a battery would prolly be a little more expensive. Any idea's on what I should do?

yea get a batt that cost less than 100. its not really hard to find that deal. also a 1 farad cap IMO doesnt even compare AT ALL.

Don't get a cap, they really don't work. There's lots of threads on them and you can get a nice smaller battery for less than a hundred bucks.

u can go with a smaller pulley, or start looking for a front battery. im sure u can get a batt for 150-175. lower your gain for a week or so and get some more money together.

Would you like me to show you my main battery? It has 1050 cold cranking amps. BMW doesnt **** around. LOL. It's the size of a truck battery too! But I am running 4awg to the distro blocks, and 8from the blocks to the amp. I was thinking I may need an upgrade there.

I really enjoy install. I could use a little help with setting gains, and the EQ. I've never been too good on the gain department. Other then that I have a lot of fun. Thanks man.

Also, FWIW, the main battery of my car is located under the rear seat. The stock location, So I don't know if that means anything haveing the battery closer to the amp or anything. It sure as hell makes install easier.

I was thinking of going 1/0 and 4awg, and a battery. So I'll be looking into it, first I gotta scrape together some cash.

when looking at car audio batts, you look at reserve capacity, how long it takes for total discharge, not cranking amps. High cranking amps are good, but if it has low reserve power, then it will drain fast, causing low voltage.

get some 1/0 gauge for everything. alt to batt, batt to ground, and for the amp to batt.
